SR I'm kind of saddened by your responses a little. You've already noted that you know that your ability to self verify is "...beneficial to myself".

That is literally what I'm doing, I'm talking to you, Lonne and the community. I don't think what's going on here is right. It's disappointing that you're not looking at the obvious flaw in what's going on here.

I agree it would be nice if we had more specialists... but if we had two specialists, it wouldn't be right that either of them would get to verify their own runs, Self Verification doesn't make any sense. Not any sense what-so-ever.

If you want to operate the model that you are allowed to verify your own runs under the premise that "The community helps keep things in order." then we should disable run verification all together. This happens on many boards, including the Super Metroid speedrun.com board and I would have no issues with this - at least it would be consistent.

Alternately if you want to keep verifications on, then surely you must accept that we cannot be in a situation where ANYONE gets to verify their own runs. Not me, not you... no-one. Because it's removing the point of verification, it doesn't mean anything anymore.

It's not personal SR. As I said it just undermined the entire point of a verification process. Lots of famous and talented Speed Runners have cheated over the years, sadly it is a very real risk. Any of us having the ability to self verify is a very, very broken model.

No-one doubts the ability of Cheese, Puncay or Simply at Super Mario 64.. but they don't self verify... we shouldn't either.

I've noticed that recently a lot of runs by SEGARALLY recently have been self verified. I don't doubt SEGARALLY's skill at the game at all, but I must protest against the self-verification. It completely undermines the entire point of the verification process.
