It was very enjoyable being a part of this marathon and I definitely encourage both seasoned and new runners to join the welcoming atmosphere. The technical details running in the background were handled professionally as always and it seems like everybody who was worried about stage fright before the run had a good time in the end.

Props to MASH and all the other staff who put lots of effort into making this event a reality once more and I'm looking forward to the runs making it to YouTube as well as the upcoming marathons. Time to dig up something new to submit by then!

I completely agree that single segment speedruns do not even remotely reflect the effort you guys put into grinding individual levels. However, a speedrun usually takes more into account than pure execution. While I see routing and efficient menuing as crucial skills, it might not make the Career any% SS category very interesting to run compared to submitting a segmented run which skips police encounters, etc.

That being said, I was wondering about alternative categories as more of a challenge than having to suffer from bad comparisons to IL runs. I was assuming Career 100% meant have every race marked as won by the time you defeat Darius at first but it could also apply to ingame % keeping track of your progress. (I would appreciate some definitions and offer to help with them as well.) A very interesting category would be low%. I haven't come up with a clear definition, yet, but the aim would be to obtain the least amount of upgrades/cars and beat the game. The best I could get was buying the first car (probably mandatory) and winning the one from your first area boss (no further upgrades, etc.). It makes most races quite difficult and especially the last canyon duel vs. Darius seems to require abuse of the +5000 point bonus upon contact with your car when he's following (to be able to win at all).

I'd love to progress speedruns of this game to get more attention to it.
