Jumping out of the water in the beginning Sub Optimal First Island Not enough Copper from 2 islands Researching clay

I have been getting into speed running shield recently and i find the hardest part for me is the IV checking of Arcanine and Excadrill.

What are some of your tips to help a newer speedrunner with these?
