Rulesets are not quite specified

As the title says, the start/end time, and rule specifics are not set properly, and I would like to suggest a couple

As an universal rule in either any% and NG+ any% , time should start at difficulty confirmation. As for the time ends, I'm not really sure on when it should be stopped. Personally, I stop the timer when the last "END" pops up in the result screen. But, it could also be when you shoot Aya at the end. As for LVL1 runs, it should be noted that we must forbid using Special weaponry or items, or create an any% LVL1 NG+, but that's just my opinion of it.

Anyways, let me know what you guys think of this! Thanks for reading

Edit: Also: RTA or In-game time? I post RTA, but also include In-game time in the post

i think using the start/end time like the upset videos its ok, start the time when press the X or start button when you choice difficult and end the time in the aya shot, because there is no more to play in that point of the game.

post the IGT its ok, because its not the same time in the split and the in game.

for the lvl 1, i agre with that, using a cleane new game for the route, i practice for that and its hard, for lvl 1 whe need to skip the tutorial and go for the mission one, and start with the exit pause menu.

should be a any% lvl 1 ng+, just for fun, like the any% ng+,

No, not at all, I'm OK with the moment Aya got shot it's over, and I think it's important to set that universal time Start/End to avoid miscalculations. I personally used the "END" popping up at results screen was OK because it was the last input you did in the game. I will time the new runs onward like that. The other rule specifics are not so important right now, as we don't have many runs yet.

Argentina

Indeed, even if it looks kinda "obvious", having that clarified will avoid conflicts between runners. Next run I try, I'll go with the new timing standard. Today I tried a any%... and it was horrible x D

Argentina

On the same topic, should we allow cheats for any%, or it should be a new category? Because a LVL1 run can use cheats if you have other saves with game clear, it allows you to have 5 DNA boards, and have access to all special weaponry and costumes. Also, what do you think on doing the following runs: -All Feats (both LVL1 and NG+) -Difficulty Specific runs (such as "Deadly LVL1/NG+" or "Genocide/Insane LVL1/NG+" -Challenge Cheats Specific Runs (for example: "Level Hold any%", or "Easy Genocide", that is having unlocked the ruleset from Genocide/Insane mode, but running it on Easy difficulty)

As for me, I've been trying and practicing some routes in regards the All Feats, and made a non-recorded run of a "NG+ Deadly"

Let me know what you guys think!

Good to know, I didn't know it allowed cheats, as it is not specified in the ruleset. I'll try to make a setup to use cheats too then, it may be the defining factor that can take down that sub 1-hour thing. Oh, and Thank You, I'm still trying to improve the time of it (I've done 3 runs since that one, and they're all behind my PB, but one of the runs has a lower in-game time), and also I'm practicing for a "any% Hard" run.

Mexico

well, using cheats in lvl 1 its kinda easy for every one, but i prefere the no-cheat run, that make the game more hard and exelent to the run

Mexico

one question, the ng+ its killing all or just finish faster the game?

Argentina

No, any% is making as fast as you can, within a certain margin. Obviously, from run to run and rehearsing the runs you will find thing that cut down a lot of time, so, it's normal to at first not being optimal, I guess.

BTW, I've resubmitted my last run: I've incorrectly timed it as "52m12s", and it's really "52m15s", sorry for the inconvinience. That kind of things happen when you do runs at 4AM.

sorry just saw this. the reason i stopped the timer on the first run of this game i did last year was because thats when you lost control is when you shoot aya. so to me technically that is the end of the game

Argentina

It's OK, really. I just wanted to standardize a definite ruleset, because, when I checked the first time around, there wasn't any of them, and it would be nice for anybody who would like to try the run to have a starting point on when to start/stop.

Mexico

so lets put this in the rule, the time start when push the buttom in any difficult mode and when choice jump the tutorial in the ng+ and end when you shoot aya, the time chance when give next in the score screen. we can use any kind of weapons in ng+ and the cheat code its valid, only with the game, any other external codes are invalid, who are work in hard mode lv1?

Argentina

I've been working a bit on both any% & any% Hard, and by now it has been mostly chokes and horrible times, but that's because I spent too much time in NG+: Having unlimited ammo it's really bad for re-strategizing modes that don't use that cheat code. It'll take a while, but it's quite fun. As for me, it seems that LVL1 Hard will have a bit of grinding, because I cannot get past some bosses in a optimal way yet. But, I don't think it would be fair to use special weapons in any of those modes. I mean, "Hard" is selectable right off from the box, so I wouldn't use cheats either, because it's more a NG+ thing in my opinion. The only plausible way to allow it, in other way, would be "acquiring" it by the normal means: buying it with 10 000 BP (if I remember correctly), but that also force us to start from a clean memory state, having the game with everything locked. I've done that a couple of times,by removing files on PPSSPP, but for PSP/PSTv users, I don't think it can be possible easily.

i have updated the rules for NG+ and LVL 1 Hard. Cheat Codes for NG+ are allowed and in LVL 1 Hard Hold Level must be used.

Argentina

Sorry that I've been inactive, too much Pokemon Go. Okay, wait, what? "LVL 1 Hard" uses Hold Level...? I don't know how viable that is, because, I've tried concept runs of this category by starting a completely New Game just on Hard and it's pretty difficult to just beat Chapter 1. I should grind a bit before I have a more detailed analysis on how to overcome some bosses in an effective way without having to resort to the RNGey DNA Board. I could upload a demo of 1 of these attempts if you wanna check them (I choked in the Chapter 1 final boss).

Mexico

i working in the hard lv 1, and found some good strat to beat the first boss a little faster, the bad thing on this is the fast overdrive charge, or i keep and lost some speed or spend and move a little fast and charge again, thats my dilema in this run. and some one tell me how in the god mitocondry name i can kill the first fatgirl boss with one overdrive? i try hard and kill with 2 max T-T

Argentina

That's exactly my point: It's still way too hard to pull off a decent run yet with those conditions. The most efficient route I came up with is trying to also have most enemies and Feats done to grind XP and Money in order to attain good weaponry and decent DNA Boards, but, of course, in the spirit of speedrunning, it's not quite as fast as it could be. And, to kill the first boss, in Hard (which increases it's HP and other stats, if I'm not mistaken), it's highly unlikely to get it in just 1 Liberation Gauge and 1 ODK. I'll try to work on it for a bit before releasing a concept of a simple "New Game Hard", no Level Hold on, no infinite ammo, and no special weaponry, and see how that one goes

Argentina

Aaaand, after a few months, I'm back, my old crusty non-gaming-able PC was replaced, and now I can run and record, well, at the state the PC was, I could even boot it up without having it to have thermal issues and some other shenanigans. Also, I will put up a video that I totally forgot to put online about the quick kill stated in my last NG+ run. I've done a couple of runs, and... they sucked, so I'll have to grind a bit and relearn some tidbits here and there to optimize times.

EDIT: Done uploading! Check it Out: https://www.speedrun.com/The_3rd_Birthday/guide/ppf7i
