Hey all. I noticed that when I'm playing through 4-2, as long as I get Mario the right number pixels ahead needed, the wrong warp will work without having to hit the vine block. Is this common knowledge? (I'm new to speedrunning sorry!). All attempts I've seen have players hit the vine block on their way through to the pipe. I think skipping hitting the vine block doesn't have any time improvements as you are already moving at full speed, but just wondered why players hit it when it seems it is not necessary. Thanks!
The vine is to fill the enemy list and prevent the piranha plant on the pipe from being loaded.
Ah right! Got it thanks. Unless there was another way to fill the enemy list and stop that piranha plant from spawning!
@gasmeter The only way to enter the pipe faster than waiting for the pirahna to go down is to hit the vine block, if you don't hit it, you'll lose a bunch of framerules waiting for the pirahna to go down. ALWAYS hit the vine block.
