Words fail to describe just how improbable this PB was, but I'll try best anyway. So here's the formula for getting a PB against these splits:

• Establish a lead in the first two crypts (that didn't happen)
• Hold serve in the next two crypts (not even close)
• Make hay in the third pair of crypts (not quite)

So going into the Sky Sphere, I'm behind by over 12 seconds. Things are looking pretty bleak.

And then... what can only be described as a ray of celestial inspiration beaming down from the ceiling of my garage shone on me and my TG-16, which was clearly responsible for my gold split in Crypt 8 and the resulting 23-second timesave. Held on to enough time in Crypt 7 to wind up with a PB of nearly three seconds. In a speedrunning career where I've made plenty of comebacks to save runs, this was probably the most notable of them all.
