Route

This is the route I used in March, 2014, minus the screenshots. Looks like I didn't completely write out the route for Day 3. Whoops!

Ashley Brinker says there are two possible improvements.

1. Don't take aunt Bet's hat.
2. Don't ask Shorty for the canteen after you do his chores.

Day One
Call the Ralweys. Convo: 1-1-2-1-2
TEX.  Convo: 2-1-2-1-2-2.
SHORTY.  Talk to Shorty for chores. Convo: 2-2-1-1-1-1.
Go outside. Flip around, grab vegetable basket. Turn around and right; chop firewood.
Turn left twice and one right. Forward to wood #1. Turn around. Two forward, then turn left and head to Dave. Convo: 1-1-2-1-3-2-3
Wood 2: Zoom in on chicken coop door.
Wood 3: Turn around.  Go back, forward and left.
Bess and George Convo: 1-1-1-4.
Look at veggies before picking up Wood 4.
 
Wood 5, left of house door.
Inside. Give veggies to Shorty.  Get eggs. Shorty Convo: 2.
Fix egg basket right away.
 
Get newspaper from fireplace.
Look at clock on fireplace.
Open up desk.  Read letter in middle, get envelope on right and get clock hands on upper/left.  You save time by skipping the invoice from Mary Yazzi.
Use clock hands on corner box. Your number is 12 2 7.
Pick up clock and open it for the clock opener.
Pick up the letter. Take the petroglyph clue paper from inside and read Dirk's letter.
Go outside. Get eggs from bottom row, left two stalls. Top row, stalls 2 and 4.
Go to firepit. Build it, then grab the bucket and go to water shed.
Fill up bucket and put it back.
Go to chicken coop and get the chicken of doom's egg.
Give eggs to Shorty for canteen.  Shorty convo: 1-1-1.
Go to Tex's area. Pick up the hat and riding gear. Tex convo: 2-2. [May I ride, goodbye]
Go out to the corral. Click on horse and Tex's second option.
• Q: Where are the horse’s hocks? A: On its back legs.
• Q: Where is the horse’s frog? A: On the bottom of the hoof.
• Q: How tall is 15 hands? A: Five feet.
• Q: What is a Paso Fino? A: A gaited horse.
• Q: How do you know if a horse is colicking? A: It keeps lying down and then standing up.
• Q: What is the difference between a bay and a chestnut? A: A bay has black points.
• Q: What tribe bred the first Appaloosas? A: The Nez Perce.
• Q: What part of the horse is most likely to be hurt when it founders? A: Feet.
• Q: What part of the saddle should be checked before you go out on the trail? A: The cinch.
• Q: What is a mule? A: The offspring of a female horse and male donkey.
Go to Mary's shop.
Open trunk with 4 9 11.  Get watch. Open it.  Get clue.
Look at green display left of trunk for Petroglyphs.
Play roadrunner game.
LEVEL 1: Down, Down, Three Right, One Left, All Down, All Right.
LEVEL 2: Up all the way, right all the way, three left, all down, all right.
LEVEL 3: U U R R D D R L U U L L D D R R U U U R R R R R U.
Look at Charleena's display.
Mary convo: 1-1-2-1
Charleena convo: 2-2
Trail's End.  Get four arrowheads here because, hey, why not?  Look at Zebra Rock.
Back to Shadow Ranch.  Drop your gear off, then leave.


Day Two
Aunt Bet convo: 2-1-1.
Snoop in Shorty's area and back away asap.  Shorty Convo: 2-1-3.  (Just proves)
 
 
Examine pump house. Call Sheriff to go inside.
Sheriff Convo: 1-1-2
Arrowhead 1 by the pipe, go through left tunnel.
Dave convo: 2-1-1-2-1-1
Go out the way you came.  Turn around and solve the puzzle on the stairs to get the bottle. 
 
Go upstairs and deliver veggies.  Shorty wants eggs. 
Dave convo: 2-1-2-1-4-1-1
Eggs. Bottom row, middle two. Top row, 1 3.
Deliver eggs. ASK FOR CANTEEN OF WATER.
2 sticks of butter
2 eggs
2 pints of flour
3 spoonfuls of baking powder
3 spoonfuls of vanilla
5 spoonfuls of milk
7 spoonfuls of sugar
Back away, put in middle container. Bake on medium for 45 minutes.
Make icing. It's a jigsaw puzzle.  Then paint it and leave.
TEX CONVO: 1 2 1
Take two scoops of the rightmost bin for chickens.
Bob: 2 leftmost, one right of it and two middle.
Clyde: 3 leftmost, one right of it.
Ace: 1 lefmost, 2 right of it, one middle.
Pick up saddle and ask to ride.  You have to do the lariat challenge AND the riding challenge for a rope.
Ask to ride and pick up saddle.
Three arrowheads at Cougar Bend, along with all the petroglyphs.  Use rope here.
 
Go to the ghost town.  Two arrowheads: One by outhouse (maybe blocked by scorpion—get crank anyway), one by gallows.
Call Charleena to learn who Pappy is. Convo: 2-1.
Call Sheriff for code to Cappy's. 
Examine electrician's manual.
Under piano, spell out "Cashmeer".
7 5 4 8 6 2 1 3
BD Eyes Ranch is sheriff's. Take machine from there.
Go to Mary Yazzi's. Examine the forks.  Mary convo:
Back to Cappy's.  Use the machine on the counter, and spell out "Frances".  Get new note in broken light.
Back to the ranch.  Get your gloves then solve the gate puzzle.

Day Three

Bess/George Convo:

Get magnet from fridge.

Water shed, then back to chicken of doom. Deliver eggs. Shorty convo:

To Cappy's at ghost town.  Get the key in the corner.
Wake up in jail.  Under Bank Lamp is Dirk's message.
Pick up a brick.
Use lariat on chair. Use brick.
 
Use key on door. Leave. There's a message on the floor.
Examine bank building.  Get the note about using the ring at Cappy's.
Shadow Ranch. Dave Convo: 
Cappy's.  Use ring on machine to make it nice.
SAVE GAME.
You get a key.  Go to Zebra Rock and use magnet.  Back away from puzzle five times to make this easier.
 
Use a key to do the ballerina thing.
 
Go to that petroglyph.  It is the P one, so use the lariat to get there.
You get a picture agate. Give it to Mary Yazzi for polishing.  Pick it up.
Bess/George convo.
Go to Charlie's grave and spin until you find it.
Message on a wall at hideout gives your pathway.  Hooray, I love randomized challenges!

One solution:
• Your path is: brown-lime (KEY) (Also, look in the orange room for a KEY)-yellow-red (KEY)-blue-orange-lime-yellow-brown-blue-lime-orange-blue-brown (KEY)-lime-orange-red-blue-yellow-lime-blue (KEY near the red door)-lime-brown-yellow.
Check every pot for a key. Use all five on the door.
Switch stones to trap Shorty.
