Getting into speedrunning

For anyone interested in getting into speedrunning, you really only need two things: Timing, and Recording


For timing the run, LiveSplit is the generally agreed upon tool, and it is incredibly easy to use. Just download it, open it, right click the popped up timer, click settings to set up your keybinds (probably turn on global hotkeys), and click edit splits to set up the splits you want to time yourself on as well as the game and category. Thats it. Then when you start the run, hit your start keybind, when you hit a split hit the split keybind, and when you finish hit the end keybind.


You also need a way to record. You can do this with OBS, or with generic sustained screen capture. OBS is pretty simple, setting up scenes for the game and the splits, and pressing record, although it can be stressful for the computer.
