for short runs, I usually just keep my splits running on the screen, and subtract the starting time from the ending time. I'm unsure how long the loading screen is, but if it's consistent, you could maybe start from the split timer being at a negative value for the length of the loading screen, and start the splits from when you press retry.
not totally sure but iirc when it says "end" on the bottom right of any song other than Stage 4/6 you can open and close the disc tray to skip the last portion of the song. For stage 4/6 i don't believe you can skip it before it says "battle". Unsure about the timing of closing the disc tray after.
Apologies for the delay but i went ahead and added bonus% and ils for each level
that sounds like a good idea to me, especially considering that in master on ps2, you can only start from stage one as there's no new game
i'm curious about this as well
about 9 minutes into this video i do it, you need to time the jump right and peck -
gg wow that was a lot of fun to watch :D i'm really happy that you made a tas for this :) one thing i notice that could save time is that on Fase 5 if you long jump at the right time before you reach the parts where Buzz throws the bomb, and peck, you can peck Buzz and skip him throwing the bomb.
yoooooooo that's so awesome, thanks for sharing, and good luck on the tas :D
ooh awesome discovery, thanks for sharing :D
Hello, could I please be added as a supermod for Magic Boy( https://www.speedrun.com/magic_boy ) ? I've had a run in verification for 3 months, and I contacted the only supermod of that game on twitter 6 days ago but they haven't responded yet, and they haven't been active on speedrun.com for the past 6 months.
on the ps2 version imo it's better to let go of the long notes a bit early, especially on stage 5, as you won't deal any damage/gain any health if you release too late. On the psp version, however, you'll still deal full damage/gain full health if you release late.
For stage 5 it's based on the amount of damage you do to ben-k. In the PS2 version, Ben-k's health needs to be lower than 90% after the first attack phase, 65% after the 2nd, and 20% after the 3rd, and 90%/70%/40% respectively in the PSP version.
Don't remember stage 10 as well but it works the same way; you need to get zowie's health down to less than 40% after the second charge phase, and also get zowie's health down low enough after the first, to get the fast stage 10.
ooh nice; I could see this potentially helping for other egyptian stages, will need to look into this, thanks for sharing :)
That's awesome :D I've added the JP gravity code, thanks for providing that :).
Hey :) So there's a glitch you can do on stages 4 and 6 to skip the songs by ejecting the disc when you hit the battle phase. I think you could probably eject it on other songs when it says "end" on the bottom right, to save more time. I'm wondering if this would be allowed, as it requires messing with hardware, also I'm thinking it may make the game perform worse to do it, but not sure on that.
Good suggestion. Working on adding them.
(also sorry it took so long to see this, didn't follow the game :/)
Chiming in that I'd also like a board; I've been running this too :)
