I know this is 5 years late, but I got the Xbox version to experiment with, unfortunately it's not compatible with a 360 or else that would easily be the fastest loading time of all consoles. In my testing, it's noticeably faster than Wii (about 3-5 seconds faster each loading screen from what I found) and roughly on par/maybe slightly slower than Dolphin 5.0. Not sure if Dolphin updates have affected loading times but I'm almost positive original Xbox has the best loading times as far as original hardware goes. I'll try to find my component to HDMI adapter so I can record the load times.
I'm fixing to order an Xbox copy so I can properly speedrun this game, would love to be able to run both Rumble Arena 1 & 2 here.
While I don't know how to speed up the loading times for emulator, are you playing with sound turned off? If you turn sound off in the options menu it'll improve your loading times slightly.
I preordered the physical version from Walmart thanks to the included cards and a limited time 20% off coupon, the loading difference shouldn't be massive enough in loading until the game becomes super optimized I'd imagine.
I was considering running this game but had no clue it's currently a 5 hour+ run until now
Why are runs forced to be played in hard mode? Shouldn't there be separate categories for each difficulty?
Does anyone have an invite to the Shrek SuperSlam discord?
Excellent change, thank you, I'll definitely do some more runs now.
Who knew Berenstain Bears speedrunning would have drama.
I am running on original hardware though I don't believe there would be a difference between emulating and running this game on hardware.
I completed two runs with no issue, however on my last two attempts, the game softlocked after clearing Lofty's level and got stuck infinitely looping the job list and password screen but in Italian. Has anyone else had this issue? Video link showing what happened is linked below
bump, I had no clue this was even on the site until now due to it not being in the Shrek Series.
I would love to see this become a thing
With the Xbox version being by far the only viable system to speedrun this game on due to loading times, is there any way timing could be done without accounting load times? Banning emulators and USB/SD loaders only restricts access to playing the game, especially when the Xbox version is still way faster than a Wii running the game off a USB stick through Nintendont. I'd love to seriously run this game, but I don't have a working Xbox/360/the Xbox version of Rumble Arena 2.
TLDR: The Xbox version is the only viable option to run, while emulators are banned, and every other console loses several seconds per loading screen.
Yes, the point is that it makes running any version that's not the Xbox version useless to run in a serious run. It would be excellent if timing was down without loads, that way all versions are viable.
I've personally always ran the GameCube version, though TheTechnician27 has been running the PS2 version through an emulator. I've not seen any notable differences, though I do remember the PS2 version taking a bit longer to load when I tried it myself, though the fast disc loading speed may fix that.
I just completed my first speedrun of it, I requested the game to be added to the site and will happily moderate it.
I requested to be a mod for this game, let's see if we can revive it 👍
