Whoops. My bad. Must have misread it when I was typing it in. Not sure why I put Level 20... It should say Level 18 for Freeplay%. Tbf, I have only gotten there twice and did so before I started looking into speedrunning :p
LiveSplit is the one I use and that I've seen most used in speedrunning. You can try asking in the speedrunning subreddit for some help getting setup or for alternatives.
The naming is based on completion, so to finish CopyPaste%, you have to complete Level 12 and unlock blueprints. Same goes for Freeplay% and Level 20.
For verification of runs, you will likely want to use https://livesplit.org/ for the timer and https://obsproject.com/ for recording. They are pretty straightforward to setup. Smallant has a tutorial here:
I threw together a rough guide in case you want to get going. I plan on updating it with more information and as I learn myself. https://www.speedrun.com/shapez.io/guide/qgryd
I would take a look at the current records for an idea of how the setup of the run is done: https://www.reddit.com/r/shapezio/comments/i2950p/copypaste_1951_wr/
I have done my first run last week and, although the audio quality is crappy, it might be a good place to start. I try to explain what I am doing, but it's my first time doing a video, so its kinda cringe ngl.
I basically started by trying to route for myself using the Wiki for the game. Here are the links that I used:
- https://shapezio.fandom.com/wiki/Upgrading
- https://shapezio.fandom.com/wiki/Efficient_Designs (only some of these are useful for speedrunning, just go with the easiest to tile quickly)
I am working today, but I should have time to create a guide for how I got started at some point with my order and targets per level that I used for my 46m run.
I noticed we didn't have any established as of yet, so why not open a forum post about it.
Current categories that make sense to me are:
- Level 12 (CopyPaste%)
- Level 18 (not 20 as I had before :p) (FreePlay%)
For rules:
- Clean installs only, altering the game files is banned.
- Timing is done using real time (game time is not accurate enough).
- Timing starts when you press New Game and the loading completes (accounts for difference in computers).
- Timing ends when the Level Complete appears for your desired category.
- All runs require the full version of the game. (no shapez.io website runs ?)
- All runs require video proof (I think this is the case already)
- Version should be included as a field in the submission (not a rule, just a suggestion) (verification through Settings if scrolled to bottom)
