There was a brief discussion about this in 2015, but nothing ever came from it. I did my own run as a Twitch follower special in 2015:

The biggest difference between my run and Boston's run and a run bbforky did as part of a 24-hour marathon before mine was 3D. I did 3D in Marathon and Time Zone in my run because the records screen has separate scores for them, but no one else has. My requirements for the run were:

-Spa Service, including beating the Butch & Cassidy SPECIAL stage because you get a cutscene for winning -50,000 points in Marathon 2D to trigger the credits -50,000 points in Marathon 3D -25,000 points in Time Zone 2D to trigger the credits -25,000 points in Time Zone 3D -Puzzle University, regular and special puzzles -1P Stadium on every Game Level

I also created a new profile and started my timer right then as all of the achievements are tied to the profile. It practically adds zero time to the run if you create it within Spa Service.

If we can agree on a definition, then I am all for adding 100%. I really don't like Puzzle U as a category, though. There's pretty much zero room for creative or dynamic input and I don't find that interesting to track.

I would make Amiibos a separate category, personally.

We can come to a decision on save state use later (and I would personally ban them since Pokemon Gen 1 bans them for probably the same reasons that their community used), but I need to clarify a term of reference that is being thrown around in this thread.

When the rules talked about "emulator usage," they were referencing which emulators were actually allowed and that was it. The FAQ listed in the rules was purposefully linked to the specific section of that page that covers that issue, quoted below:

The rules now reflect the precise rule set being borrowed from SpeedRunsLive of what emulators are allowed for submissions. Admittedly, they are a placeholder until we develop our own rules. Now that we are running an annual Tetris Attack tournament every March, we should get together sooner rather than later to decide on our own rules.

As for save states, technically we have no rule on them. I know multiple people that have started runs from save states and have never had a problem with their runs. I have proven the potential for their abuse, however.

I will advise now that runs starting from save states will be subject to greater scrutiny going forward. I do not recommend doing it.

To echo my sentiments from the other thread, I think it would be as interesting as a speedrun of any old football game or another sport with a fixed clock. I love me my sports games, but that does not sound interesting to me at all. Progress in the Japanese version is not tied directly to running out the clock as fast as possible; that's why that version is even remotely interesting to speedrun.

You are welcome to post a run here of what you're proposing, though I suspect it will be little more than finding creative ways to waste time, which goes against what I think of as a speedrun.

The site rules govern approval needed to add GAMES, not CATEGORIES. There is no site approval needed to add categories to existing games. With game requests as slow as they already are, I doubt site mods would be interested in adding category requests to their queue, as well.

The America version is not the same game, not when the length of each half is fixed (YOU must exhaust the clock to zero) and you can choose your opponents in any order. It is literally impossible to do the same speedrun. It would also make for just as interesting a speedrun as any other American football game, i.e. not very.

The arcade and MSX versions, though; those could be very interesting based on what little I've seen.

As a result of the discussion linked here, Endless mode speedruns performed on any version of Panel de Pon that do not utilize a scoring glitch of making combos of at least 32 panels are now valid to submit to this leaderboard. This includes runs on the original SFC/SNES release that do not use the glitched combos as well as runs on all subsequent releases of Panel de Pon.

This change does not affect other modes.

So what would make this Glitchless category different from the regular Tetris Attack category? I originally split the games because multiple game modes had enough differences between both versions that made their speedruns different and I did not want to clutter one board with that many subcategories. You should notice, however, that there is no Stage Clear leaderboard for this version. There are no known speedrun differences between the two versions so that board stayed with the Tetris Attack board that was created first.

So why not allow "glitchless" runs in the Tetris Attack category when there is precedent with Stage Clear? What makes their speedruns different?

How are speedrunners of those banned games supposed to be welcome when their games are not?

You do not, in fact, welcome ALL speedrunners to join when you have a list of games that you do not accept. I'm not sure how you fix this besides deleting the word 'all', but the statement is objectively inaccurate.

We already have a split Endless leaderboard. The no combo glitch side is Tetris Attack and we can adjust that ruleset to allow all PDP runs that do not use the glitched combos as the runs are functionally the same.

Hmm, the top run of each category of Huniepop has an alternate PornHub link for each video. I love it as a puzzle game, but its entire premise leads to several NSFW segments. I'd be surprised if there weren't other games already on the site like this.

Super Mod @Cupps has not logged in in almost two months. Their last YouTube video is almost two months old, the one before that is six months old, and their last Tweet is almost nine months old. Tweeting at them and commenting on their YouTube channel two weeks ago has failed to get a response. I am also unable to locate them on Discord to DM them (either through the account in their SRC profile or a different one in their YouTube profile).
