You need to enter through the red door past the asylum demon before the boss dies. If the boss dies before you get through, the door doesn't shut, and the game doesn't set the next bonfire as your checkpoint automatically. In other words, you need to be closer to the red door when you kill the asylum demon so that you can get through fast enough.

Can anyone help me figure out how to bind my mouse wheel to skip dialogue? I heard that is how you skip dialogue the fastest so I would like to get that time save. Thank you.
