Hi Guy! I'm newbie! I'm the speedrun Super Mario Bros beginners ! I see people working flagpole Glitches. I saw on Youtube and I only got close to the flag and I can't press the button, if you can not go to the flag but be next to the block if you can help me thank you.

I wouldn't recommend learning FPG if you're just starting out. You don't need it until you have a 4:57 or so. Better to focus your energy on the bigger things instead of worrying about a multiple-frames-perfect trick that saves 0.35 seconds at best.

I personally find it fun to just learn glitches, even if i'm not gonna put it in my speedruns, so you could just try to get it, but periwinkle is right, don't do flagpole glitches unless you're going for 456 or a low 457

I'd recommend learning WJ room and Blazit. Both are relatively easy and fun to do, plus they set you up for learning frame-perfect inputs and are pretty important later on. Of course, they don't need to be used in a run until around 4:56 or 4:58 (give or take a sec, depending on your route and goal. Might also be wrong because I haven't really been a ''big'' in the community in a while so I might've forgotten that stuff but idk) They're still pretty useful though.
