Hello, I'm Vlad2D and this is my first news post on Speedrun.com for Far Cry 3.

On July 2, Scubrah mentioned to us in Discord that in September Far Cry 3 servers will shut down forever. We had experience with server issues year ago, when they were shut down for 2 weeks and because of that we could not do runs of this game until they were fixed.

For those who don't know, this game needs an Internet connection to work properly. If you open Menu, Map, Skill Tree, and the Crafting menu, the game will try connecting to Ubi servers, because you don't have Internet connection, it will not be able to connect to them, which results in around 8s of timelose each time you open your menu.

Me, Alex and other runners don't trust Ubisoft solving this issue. (Update: in 2023 they released 1.06 patch, which made only one screen telling you that "Server's are no longer online". But it did take them a year to do, lol)

Scubrah made "Disable Server Messages" mod aka. "Offline Mod". Me and AlexYeahNot decided to allow this mod for all categories on the leaderboard. Mod changes two DLL files. Game starts up faster with this mod for some runners like Binslev from 15s without the mod to 6s with it.

For now, this mod is private to runners of the game to test and find issues in it. It will be uploaded to Nexusmods once Scubrah feels ready. (Update: It's up at Nexusmods "https://www.nexusmods.com/farcry3/mods/276")
