Put the pre 2.1 runs back on the main page and replace all the runs currently on there, they have the technical world records and it isn't fair to them. it's apparently our fault that we didn't run the game before the sparrow patch, them having a better unobtainable time won't have any negative affect on new runners anyways as you pointed out on another topic that I'm not allowed to bring up, so I won't.
Jackie, we're using a fair category system right now. SRL runs aren't on the same leaderboard as non-srl. Theres a double-standard with this situation and it sucks dick. I've got an explanation that I think covers the topic pretty well and why the system is fair:
If people can no longer get srl gear, its totally unfair to those who missed SRL. It puts them at a massive disadvantage and de-incentivizes certain players. BUT, its ALSO unfair to immediately make runs that use SRL gear illegitimate. Using SRL Gear makes the game reach its current fastest potential. SO, The 2 categories method is all positives between the two with no reasonable negatives. SRL gear doesn't need to be banned. Nor does it need to be on the same leaderboard as non-srl gear. No two categories are taking the backseat or spotlight. I think that's pretty fair.
The problem with destiny is it always advancing it is not going to be like any speedrun game where there is no patches cause it cannot be connected to the developer ex. Donkey Kong, chrono trigger these games had the glitches anyone can do them if they were to practice so the game was even across the board.
The fact with destiny is certain gear will always be untainable such year 1 legendary heavy reload gauntlets, SRL gear and more gear to come. These event gears I believe should not be allowed cause you need a base of grounds that is even. The previous 2.1 had in game mechanics which allowed you to do stuff faster and as the game progresses is invalid for current runners to compete against or upcoming patches so I agree with the lock of those times. I strongly believe moderators need to reevaulate rules and have tested patch notes to see what changes do effect possible times which might make them until reachable and the submission of videos should have the current patch notes cause when people look up YouTube videos they can see what era it was run in. I won't say pre 2.1 is unreachable cause never know what gear or what patches they may add that could surpass those times just a opinion. Unfortunately the 2 moderators before zecora never ran destiny and I think if you don't submit time of the game you shouldn't complain but hey I'm just a old guy that plays and trys to make it even across the playing field.
P.s. year 1 trails heavy reload gauntlets (legendary item) you cannot get them which does save some time in a total. The closest thingredients we can get is exotic gauntlets with a possible roll with then but we would lose a slot to that.
See the issue with banning things like this is that it slowly picks away at and limits the speed of the game. Speedrunning is about two things, doing a task as fast as possible, and having fun. (I know it sounds fuckin cheesy but its true) If one of those things is not met, I don't think that's cool. If people are put at a disadvantage in the leaderboard they wanna run, that's not fun and we can't have that. HOWEVER, if we are making it so that runners can't get times that are fast enough to the fullest feasable potential of the game, that's not cool either. <- THIS is why we made a separate category. Its a Win:Win and to be honest, I think people need to just accept it. There is NOTHING unfair about having an SRL category. It harms nobody and its a positive gain for the community. I'm getting very tired of defending it hundreds of times. Just accept it as it is.
Wasn't attacking the whole SRL gear at all if I wanted to attack something it would be the poor catergoies lol the layout of it all is poor but that is something not in any of your hands lol
There are supplements to not having Year 1 heavy loader gauntlets. Year 2 exotic gauntlets. Typically where ever you need to reload heavy (usually ghorn) you have time to swap armor and not lose time. I.E. Black Garden, Eye of the Gate Lord, etc. If there are supplements there is no need to not allow specific stuff that isn't obtainable anymore. We can't do old sparrow boosting at all so we added new leaderboards. We didn't just ban sparrows outright.
It's different with something minor like year 1 heavy loader gauntlets which effects few missions as opposed to something major like SRL gear which aids the main mechanic of the game. That being movement. There are ways to make up for not having heavy loader but not ways to make up for not having SRL gear.
By continuing to deny that there is a problem ongoing is to continue to be unsupportive of the community.
SRL Will obviously be back, like Festival of the lost.
Thing is, most of people think it's broken because one guy is salty AF on it, but I'v been using it for quite some time now and I can tell you that this is not broken at all.
It's a minor advantage, one seconds gain if it's optimal which most of the situation aren't. In a big mission like dark beyond where I used it like 5 times the only time where I gained that 1 seconds is at the beginning, the rest is just confort that you can replace with being smart and pre spawning sparrow while turning or being in the air. But yeah some people prefer to cry over the helmet instead of being smart.
Do I really have to beat my own time(dark beyond) without the helmet to prove you guys that this is a minor advantage ? Because If I did and wasted my time because in the end you would still cry over it, why should I even bother.
Banning the helmet would remove so much fun and creativity, to found new strat/route. (Like this : http://imgur.com/3css7xO ) Let's take the definition of "Speedrun"
"A speedrun is a play-through (or a recording thereof) of a video game performed with the intention of completing a goal as fast as possible"
Separating or removing a element of the game that isn't even a glitch or even a exploit is the exact opposite of this definition.
We only have two viable options here, either we keep this SRL Category and merge it when SRL comes back in December or we just do like Fallout 3 Speedrun does with the "SRL" badge because this small advantage is really not worth separating.
Also why do you guys make a category for Solo SRL, and not Duo and Fireteam if we listen to the no sense of some people, this helmet could save 1000 seconds on restoration so why would you separate solo and not the others categories.

Not really a complaint but watched some videos of times thinking on what runs I was gonna try and attempt there is some that were missed that has srl gear used in them just as a heads up

[/quote] In case that was difficult to read, even kirkq said they wouldn't add a small amount of submitted runs in their own category to the main listings because it would obviously cause the board to become bloated.
How come the full game does not have a sub catergoies for its drop down like the IL. For mobile users this is a pain having to scroll down past all the catergoies to click the links such as forums and it will also be cleaner if it was grouped better just wondering.
