New strategy! It's been a little minute. Never noticed before, but after looking at pangeasoftware.net and their guide for Cro-Mag, I found out that going through the gongs on GW doubles the active items that you have. So I hold on to the second boost, duplicate it, and then use both and try not to hit any COMs or walls. Theoretically, I could dupe both boosts, but i haven't found a line that works very well doing that. Safer to just do the second, but it took nearly 5 seconds off the old WR. So yeah, pretty good!
