**General information**
In casual play, the aim is to gather clues in the form of 6 different notes and locate the animal skull that is hidden somewhere in the building. 
You have a light source, a health bar, and an inventory. There are meds and lighter fluid throughout the game which can be used in the inventory menu to refill your lighter and your health, but asides from the 100% category you should not need to pick anything up.
Some actions such as entering codes into the digital locks require you to have your lighter turned on.

**That big guy patrolling outside that wants to kill you**
You should avoid this guy at any cost. 
He deals a lot of damage, and when you lose health you temporarily travel slower making it hard to escape him unless you are at an entrance to the building already.
From my observations, where he spawns in is random. He seems to have a set route once he spawns and will double back within his route, so with a little caution it's easy to avoid him. 
*If you do get chased by him:* run through the gap between the outer wall and the big cement pile to lose the chase. He will patrol at his sprinting speed after this though, which is inconvenient.


**Good/Bad endings**
Upon spawning, walk down the long side of the building, when you turn the corner of the building there is a ladder. Angry murder man *can* spawn in the way so I recommend hugging the outer wall until you know where he is.

Use the ladder to enter the building. Exit the room, turn left, and head straight through the large room until you reach the locked gate at the other side. The code is 1958. Enter and grab the bolt cutters on the floor. The game will auto-save.

When you load back in, exit the building the same way you entered. Before leaving make sure that the angry murder man is not close to the window. Once you exit, go left around the building. Once you turn the corner you should see a locked gate door that leads to the basement. Go there and grab the ladder from the bottom of the stairs. 

Skip the next two paragraphs by using the Ladder Skip (described in the skips guide).

At this point, the angry murder man is somewhere! If you know where he is, great! Go around the building in a way that avoids him until you reach the open window where you'll automatically put the ladder down. If you don't know where he is, continuing counter-clockwise around the building is the shorter route, and if you hug the outer wall carefully you should avoid detection.
Once the ladder is placed down, use it to enter the window.

Unbolt the door (above the handle by about a foot) and enter into the next room. Unbolt the door in this room and enter the hallway. To the left down the hall enter the door on the right side and then the door on your left (the bathroom). In the bathroom your game auto-saves and the message "Save game..." appears in the top corner. This is a necessary trigger point. Return to the hallway and go right towards the exterior staircase.

Ascend to the second floor and enter. Walk down this hall until you reach the door with the electronic lock. The code is 6372. Pick up the quest item from the box against the back wall. Your game will auto-save.

When you load back in, you're locked in a room in the basement. The door does not unlock until you hear someone at the door. After this audio cue, open the door and book it down the hallway on the right. 

**-Bad Ending**
At the very beginning of this hallway there is a bolted door on the right. Open this door and approach the cannibal. Die. The end.

**-Good Ending**
At the end of the hallway on the bottom shelf on the left there is a crowbar. Grab this. Do a 180 and head back until you reach the boarded door. Enter this room, to the right of the door past some barrels there is another bolt cutter on the floor, grab this. Exit the room and go back down the hallway to unlock a door on the left side. Enter and grab the item on the floor. Upon exiting this room head right down the hall, on the right you will see a short set of stairs, go up the stairs and through the door and up the other small set of stairs to grab the key. Return and you will see two mannequins having a fight club meeting, go to where they were and you will be able to unlock the door to the interior staircase.

Ascend two flights of stairs. Grab the key off the box that stops you from going any further. Descend one flight of stairs and you can now unlock the first floor door. The front door is already open.

Angry murder man should be somewhere in front of you, close to the exterior wall. If he's not there then good luck. Go left along the building making sure to hug the building wall and you should be fine to sprint the whole way. Continue counter-clockwise and note that the weird pile of construction materials is conveniently stacked in your favor. Keep going and behind the basement entrance there are some wooden boards, grab these. Return to those sweet sweet construction materials and escape as an unmurdered man. The end.

**100%**
This guide is in progress. Once I (the moderator of this speedrun page) do more research I will fill this in. For the time being just know that the 100% run will inevitably be fairly similar to the good ending run.

Skips Guide

**Ladder Skip:**
There is one known time save called the [Ladder Skip](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1440020137) (the video cuts off at the end because I got very loud after). It is a little tricky and screwing it up will cost your run, but you saves you very valuable time. Click the link to simply watch how it's done.
**How it works:**
When you get the ladder from the basement stairs, you're supposed to bring it to the open window on the other side of the building. The game doesn't let you set it down or pick anything else up in the meantime however we have no respect for the rules of physics. Walk backwards towards the end of the building and look downwards. This will cause the ladder to conflict with your hitbox and the ground and alakazam you're going backwards *fast*. Once you make it to the corner of the building, position yourself you get launched into the stairway railing. Do it. Essentially scoop yourself up and onto the stairs. You will be able to use the stairway railing to separate yourself from Mr. Ladder by putting the ladder on the outside of the railing and walking backwards away from it. Enter the door on the second floor and resume your run as usual.

**Unnecessary extra information about the ladder skip**

Walk up any object that is sizeable enough (tall and wide enough, light posts are near impossible for this) and walk at/around it so that the object is wedged between you and the ladder. Back up until you are freed from the ladder's clutches. If the ladder didn't fall onto the ground, simply walk into it to make it fall. Get on the ladder. Yes, stand on it. It seems you can only pick the ladder up from the top rung (from when you originally grabbed it). Pick up the ladder while standing on it. 
You are now riding on the magic carpet of You Must. You can steer your magic carpet by the movement controls and/or by looking in a certain direction.
When you hold the ladder as the game intends the ladder is positioned in front of you as it was when you picked it up. Look up, ladder goes up, walk forward, ladder goes forward. This positioning gives us a little insight into how to steer the ladder when we're riding it. My belief is that where you're standing on the ladder and what way you're facing when you pick it up determine the "origin" of your steering. Picking the ladder up facing sideways is akin to holding only the "a" or "d" key to walk.  It is possible to travel in every direction including ascending and descending.
