I plan on making a video tutorial detailing the individual levels/strats as well. I learned all this information by watching the TAS, which you should also check out if you really want to run this game.

The mechanics of the game are very simple. Wolverine's air and ground movement speed is the same, and he also accelerates to full running speed instantly. Jumping will slow you down because of the landing animation, which will halt forward movement for 1 frame. Jump height is also fixed, which means it will always result in the same amount of height regardless of how long the A button is held. Jump-slashes can be performed by attacking with the B button while you are jumping. The jump-slashes will only work while jumping, so if one is required you must actually jump instead of fall off a ledge. This situation comes up a few times in the run. Another interesting thing about jump-slashes is that they can distort Wolverine's hitbox to be a bit smaller. I will refer to these as "perfect jump-slashes" as the timing to press the B button after the A button is pretty tight. If performed quickly enough, the perfect jump-slash will allow Wolverine to squeeze through tight gaps over enemies and obstacles. Health management becomes very important in the later stages of the game, so learning to avoid the enemies and obstacles while taking minimal damage is required. Some ledges, the ones with small arrows on the side in particular, can be grabbed. Once Wolverine is hanging from one of these ledges, pressing either the up or A button will climb the ledge, while pressing down will let go of it. You can also press away from the ledge (right or left depending on the ledge) to perform a lunge. The TAS uses lunges when a jump is required immediately after landing on the ledge in order to save a few frames, which is quite difficult to pull off optimally. There are also ways to boost Wolverine's horizontal position forward slightly while attempting to land on either on enemies or destroyable objects, which will zip Wolverine out to the side of the enemy/object. Another example of this zip property is on low ceilings, which will sometimes zip Wolverine downwards when jumped into, reducing air time. This is only useful to make jumps shorter and to land quicker, as the landing animation will still be present. There is also a Berserker Rage move in the game, which is a sort of ultimate move. This can be performed by attacking with the B button at least 4 times consecutively. While this move is active, Wolverine's health is drained and jumping is restricted. This move is only useful on boss fights. It is also possible to buffer the Berserker Rage, as performing crouch punches (Down plus B button) counts toward the "attack total" (which is 4) but will never actually initiate the Berserker Rage, only a standing slash will.
