Does the run HAVE to start out with having 3 lives or do lives not matter as long as the run is complete? like for individual levels.

As long as you start out with just the pistol and 8 bullets, you're fine, doesn't matter how many lives you have

you should probably be using the warp commands to load the level on startup to avoid RNG seed issues.
