I honestly think this is just a sneaky attempt to drive people out of this board which is not going to happen. Nice try tho. It was fun.
BTW I'm looking forward to add new mods :)
It's a terrible idea to try to split the community. Participate here instead of being crybabies tbh
How many time you think you're going to gain in a NG+ run doing some extra menuing in which the main focus is mastering the movement and strats throughout the game with a previously set inventory (alike RE4) ?
I'm telling you that not enough to be even noticeable.
Since when IGT is not OK for NG+ runs? As far as I know you spend little to no time menuing there, so the IGT technically times correctly the whole run. The main problem was how 120fps could drive crazy the IGT.
Is not as simple as going back to the same rules. We need to be more clear about when is RTA or IGT going to be used.
I really like the idea of RTA for NG (since menuing is part of the run) and IGT for NG+
EDIT: At the moment, the official rules of this community (out of runner's ideas) state that IGT is used for NG+ (with no idling in the menus) and RTA for NG in every platform.
ORIGINAL POST: Hi there. As you probably have noticed there have been some drastic changes in the moderation team, and I think in some way they had it coming because reasons.
Anyways, let's get to the point and vote a definitive way of timing the PC and console versions of the game:
PC (Steam) -
We voted for RTA without loads some weeks ago but we don't have a fully functional load removal tool (for everyone) at the moment and that meant that literally no one could submit PC runs under those rules, so I think the best solution for now is reverting the load remover rule and use IGT again for now (and that would mean no variable/120fps runs for the time being imo).
One thing that is for sure is that we want to avoid going back to the typical RTA timing which was kinda unfair. IGT makes sense.
CONSOLE (PS3/PS4/X360/XB1) -
Since there's no variable FPS to deal with in the console versions and they just run 30 or 60fps depending on the console generation, let's just keep it timed via IGT because it seems the most logical solution for all of the console versions, no PC hardware variants here whatsoever.
Tell me if you agree or not with this as a "fix" for the timing rules once and for all. I'm open to suggestions and ideas.
The days of closing threads without reaching a conclusion are over, so feel free to debate this here for as long as you want, and hopefully finding a consensus solution in the way :)
Yes you can, just lift the load remover rule until there is one. Easy.
And you give 2 shits about moderation in general if you think it's acceptable that PC runs are unsubmittable because of the MANDATORY NONEXISTENT RTA load remover dawg
At this point it would be easier to just have PS, PS2 and PS3 separated and be done with it tbh
This is getting way too ridiculous.
Bad Ending = Any% Best Ending = 100%
And in addition to those above = Glitched, Glitchless, Knife Only
Sounds really clear to me.
PS3 should be with PS/PS2. PSP just standalone or vs emulator. A "PSN" category for the fastest and the slowest platforms of the PS1 version sounds kinda dumb.
I think people does not run with (all) glitches because some of them are too frustrating to bother with, but they can handle the easier ones, that's why I added the chemical one to that category.
But I knew it was not going to be a popular opinion anyways. I just wanted to say it :D
IMO it should be like this, and way clear for everyone:
Any% (or All Glitches)
- Every glitch is allowed
No Major Glitches
- Pause Cancel is allowed (easy)
- Statue camera skip allowed (just one spot in the game and almost impossible to fail)
- Chemical Skip allowed (anyone can learn this in 5 mins or less, no frustrating frameperfect stuff to execute)
- Rebecca Skip allowed (easy)
Glitchless
- No glitches whatsoever
Just my personal thoughts about this matter.
@wolfdnc man you're totally missing the point of my post there. I want to check out the disc of a chinese version to find out if what's inside is the same version you guys have been playing, so we can "approve" it finally and use it as the fastest version instead of Mediakite.
I think Duds should had pointed out before that his downloaded version has the Ubisoft splash instead of the out of place looking bloody UBCS logo.
And thank you guys for moving this forward because tbh CHN version being finally legit is what we all want for speed purposes.
