That's a good question, and congrats on completing a run.
I've always found the difficulty categories to be a little silly, because obviously you would play on easy for the fastest run, and no one will ever run on normal, etc. I kinda lean toward easy being "at least easy" and treating it more like an any% run. Again, I'm not a mod though.
Don't want to speak for the other mods, but I'll give my opinion at least.

Time starts on beginning story mode, sure. I would say it ends on completion of the last mission.
-
It would seem impossible to require completing every gauntlet mode mission, but as for Hundun I kind of lean toward no. My thought on this category would be to complete every single mission in story mode and that's it.

DLC is not required.

Usually for runs this long the recording is constant, but the video is uploaded in multiple parts. I personally don't have a preference for this though.
Lastly, I'll ask what your thoughts are on this, since you're running it? I'm also happy to provide any help on this because although I've stopped running the game for now, I've always wanted to do a 100% run. Good luck!
I'd like to know this too, and also just generally whether PCSX2 is allowed in exchange for the real deal. Thinking about running some ILLs.
It'd be nice if someone made a guide for the OOB glitches (and not only because I don't really even know how to do it). Would solve a minor barrier for beginners.
I think the biggest problem with DW5 speedruns is that there isn't a clear "Any%" category where you just race to beat the game. My big gripe is that individual stories don't have a ton of depth to them, but combining stories still means you have to decide between Wei/Wu/Shu/Other. Basically, It'd be nice if we had a strong front-page run but the game doesn't have it
I do also agree that Chang Ban is the worst stage in this game for speedruns. You are basically stuck waiting for Cao Cao and it can be an inconsistent stage at a lot of points. Same for Escape from Chi Bi. Shu in general has the worst speedruns I'd say.
Ling Tong is my favorite character, but for free play I think Ma Chao is the obvious first choice.
I personally am fine with allowing pauses, although typically the timer runs for any break in most speedruns. I get that this isn't a popular game, but best practice would probably be to disallow pausing the timer. Ultimately though it doesn't really matter.
I play on controller, although I guess if I did co-op I'd use a keyboard as the secondary.
As I understand it, turbo is not allowed and no one has (openly) used it ever in a run. OOBs have been allowed in the past. I also use PCSX2 for emulation, but obviously no speeding up the game play or anything like that.
As for two-player and glitch-less categories, I'm sure no one is opposed to it. The problem is that this isn't a popular speedrunning game so we don't have that many runs on the main page, let alone category extensions.
DW5XL is a separate game, as it is or should be in every Koei game. Again, the problem is we don't have many runners so the rules haven't been that fleshed out.
I'm more than happy to make the categories for each rally location if I'm given mod status. I'll submit a run soon for one of the locales to get things in motion. As for IL, I don't think we should do individual stages since that's tracked on racenet/in-game. But if anyone submits a run for another category not present we can talk about adding it.
It does look like both mods are inactive so we may need a new mod team here.
Watching this back and it's crazy I didn't think of using charge attacks on the horse! Also have yet to pull of OOB.
Sounds good, I think both would be nice to have as runs but you could always just add ILs when someone submits a run.
Hi,
Just curious why there isn't a run for each of the characters' Musou modes. That seems like the most obvious category to run, especially since the Anthology runs are so long.
I'm happy to add them if made a mod, I also mod the WO3U board. Would also probably do some runs.
No way! Awesome run great to see someone attempting it.
Hello everyone, I'm just wondering what the protocol is for selecting mods for games that aren't out yet? Particularly if the game in question is not part of a previous series. I'm thinking of Outer Worlds, to be released this October.
Also, when does a game get added to the site? Thanks all
I'm not sure what other games do, but I don't think there would be any reason to pause the game in IL except for pause-skipping.
I just think it's kinda lame if an IL takes 10 minutes to do, but the IGT says 50 seconds. But I won't make any rule changes right now, especially cus it looks like just us three care and you two are in favor of a no-ban.
Side note, do you guys know what the most popular Warrior games are for running rn? I was also thinking about running SW 1 and 2 on emulator, along with this game. Next week I will finally be back with my xbox.
Are you referring to full-game runs? Cus I still think we should just not allow clock manipulation with pause-skips. That way we could use IGT pretty easily for individual levels at least.
Full-game is a little more difficult so I'm not sure there. I don't see a great way to reconcile that. I am a slave to the community tho, so whatever we think is best.
