To my knowledge mGBA doesn't have the frame counter. Likely due to it's lack of recording/TAS functions. If you're unable to use Bizhawk and will be using mGBA no frame counter is fine, simply display the FPS. It's under Settings > Interface > Show FPS in title bar.
It's under "Resources". It's simply a modified rom to allow players to warp places, change their items, in addition to stuff like save states. It's mainly so people on console can practice, hence the mention of the SD2SNES/FXPak
I appreciate Daigon doing the legwork & think the idea of an emulated GBA slot option opposed to making the whole run emulated is a good middle ground. In all of the above cases the flash cart ties or loses out to an actual DS, and always loses out to DS emulator so it doesn't feel fair to denote the 3DS played on actual hardware as emulator in that way.
Can also confirm lag spikes happen on my R4 cart. Typically during phase 1 of Menace when he uses his purple breathe attack. I've actually started delaying my next jump in that case cause it was getting into the habit of eating my jump input.
I thought about mentioning that, but I thought that was a camera scroll glitch/trick opposed to the way a standard gate glitch worked. But yes, there is the one right facing gate you can trick in a different way.
For quality of life purposes we are allowing runners of Final Episode categories to run "seeded" runs from a save file. Please be sure to check the updated rules for Final Episode to make your attempts more comfy and ensure it meets the new rule requirements if using a save.
All right everyone the boards seem to be sorted & we don't see any other potential changes coming down the pipeline. As a result we are now opening the CotM2 boards for submissions. Be sure to peek not only the category rules but the overall game rules as well prior to submission. Happy speedruns!
Indeed. We've been hard at work on runs though. I myself have been doing Episode 1 Ultimate/Veteran runs & am routing Episode EX. Laxxus has been doing Episode 1 Normal/Veteran. Baffan has been doing Single Mode Hachi runs. We're all sharing progress in the Discord if you wanted to keep up until things go live. https://discord.gg/6p4krZ9
Hey all, hope you guys are all having fun with your runs. The categories have been established at this point but the finer details could still be changed based on any new info between now and the 24th. As a result please hold your submissions until July 24th. Totally fine to submit runs from prior to the 24th on or after that date as long as they meet the rules once finalized. Thanks!
That's a piece of tech discovered where the player can destroy an enemy at the same time a new one would spawn in. As a result the new enemy also gets destroyed and the player grabs onto that enemy instead of the one they initially destroyed, essentially warping them forward. I'm assuming this post was made with the best of intentions, but maybe inquire about the tech in future without mention of splicing. Especially if as you claim yourself, you're not an experienced runner.
Sounds good. Is there a guide or any tips for getting doubles on the queen when she is on the ground? I can do them easily when she is top left/right, or on the ground when she fires her projectile straight ahead, but when she fires it diagonally down I always get hit. I know her positions are fixed but where she shot seemed to be based on RNG and I had no luck with a visual cue or manipulation to force her shot forward when she was on the lower part of the screen.
Console runners typically play on the Gameboy Player attachment for the Gamecube. In a pinch I'm sure you could do a webcam setup on the game screen but it can be a little hard to hold your hands in the same spot for the duration of the entire run.
Just so there's no surprise at the time of release the mods have spoken and we will be locking the boards for the first 2 weeks post release. This will be to allow everyone to enjoy the release, give proper time for category definitions, rules, etc. This will allow players to also work down their times and avoid the mods being hit with a flood of runs that will be beat the following day. Looking forward to running with everyone!
Also had it happen there as well. In addition I've experienced it in 1 other spot (forget the stage).
Awesome, thanks for the confirmation! After doing a couple runs with Rash it definitely felt different from my play over the weekend with Pimple. The hitbox seemed to make sense just based on character model.
Hey all. After toying around with the game for the last couple days I'm thinking it would be a fun run. Game kicked my butt as a kid so thought it would be fun to return the favour. I'm guessing there's no real difference in characters based on them being combined on the boards (aside from visuals for their attacks), but just wanted to make sure. Rash is quite a bit shorter & was just wondering if this impacted his hitbox or range of attacks based on height.
If you open your run and click the 3 dots on the right side under the video player you are able to edit submissions so you should be able to correct this yourself. Not sure if there's a difference for 2P runs but I don't suspect it would be. Super handy.
Sounds good. Also noticed the J version switched up A & B, which makes it feel like it always should have, but feels super awkward after playing the U version.
Low% feels like it would be human only (if that's even possible). There could be glitchless, or are there other glitches that can be done RTA? I watched the TAS and there were some crazy screen transitions & I believe a couple zips. I'm guessing they are not RTA viable? For the screen transition stuff where the player went invisible I was guessing it was like a frame perfect pause on transition or something funky like that.
