I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks back.

I thought it was mainly caused by taking damage before hitting the death barrier but from what JTB posted it looks like its a combination of the i-frames and pausing at the right time.

Unfortunately I think its more or less a dead end as you're going to be falling into an infinite void. So unless you manage to land on a previously undiscovered un-used room you won't be able to transform or do too much.

Whatever helps you keep track of your progress. I don't think too many people use the same splits as each other unless its an auto splitter. But even then I think those are outdated and potentially might not work on v1.01.

My splits are typically based around key items, pre-bosses and world completes.

Thank you for your reply and insight into your reasoning. I understand and completely agree with your concerns regarding my submission and I will try to resolve them (can't really change my newbie status though).

Also thank you for pointing out that my Youtube is not linked to my speedrun.com account. I did not realize I forgot to link them. I'll also work on moving my personal account to a brand account so that my online alias is consistent and to prevent future confusion.

Since I'm new to submitting runs I wasn't too sure how I should do it. If, by having my splits on screen, it makes your job easier and you feel more people would appreciate having them on screen then I will gladly add them. I'll have to play around with a format that I'm happy with. I would prefer to submit my runs in a format that more people will appreciate instead of being egotistical and claim what I like is what everyone should like. I also don't think that anyone should have to dedicate significant portions of their day just to re-time runs.

I'll also try to be more specific in the description of the submission. I wasn't quite sure what it was used for when I was filling it out.

Recently I submitted a run to be verified but it was rejected "because I don't have a proper reference of RTA."

I prefer the old school SDA style submissions where its just the game and nothing but the game. That's why my video did not have my LiveSplit splits or my mic's audio. I (incorrectly) assumed that the Youtube time stamps could be used for verification, or the person verifying the run could time it themselves if they so chose to do so. However I also understand that my preference may not match the standards of this community and potentially this site as a whole.

I also cannot submit my Twitch VoD for verification, even though it has my splits in it, as I do not a good enough internet connection and the VoD skips a chunk frames every so often.

So, for future reference for both myself and any other potential runners, I would like to know the exact requirements I need to meet in my videos to have them properly verified.

I.e. Do I need full splits or will a simple timer on the bottom corner of the screen suffice? Does the timer and the video have to be separate or can the timer overlap the video if its taking up an insignificant amount of space? Would using splits i/o help the verification process at all? etc.

edit: Trying to fix my formatting... its all in italics for some reason...
