and why was the category named 69% here on speedrun.com the two months after i left the skype chats? i've looked every day.
and then when i released the multiplayer, why was it then changed to naechster%? obviously to provoke me.
i've invented a category, you know. (actually you, reading this, probably dont know, cause youve never done anything like this). i have the right to give it a name. the community has a right to give it a name. but not after two years. cause then the renaming has obviously other reasons. wrong reasons.
for all these two years i did not have the "agenda" to call it 69%. and pushing this "agenda" forward every day with great effort. so everyone who invents a speedrun category and gives it a name has an agenda now or what? and only if the community gives it a different name, then it is assured there is no agend behind it, or what? what if the community has an agend against the inventor of the category? is that acceptable?
it's still my category, no matter how often you rename it. and if you liked your naechster you would name it 69% in honour of me. but for some odd reason, that i still dont understand i got into wrong waters. i can only imagine pissing some big guy off with my critical personality. whos plotting now in the background. cause as everybody says, the name doesnt matter at all. so why go to these efforts, these lengths to reanme it. you could as well have left it.
and where are all the ovendonkeys, floubzes, zubmits, zerocools, that know me from the first hour? where is nulaft, who has learned everything he knows from me or at least together with me? with whom i've been in skype calls for 12 hours each day sometimes? why dont i have anybody speaking for me?
but the fact that there were TWO skype groups already shows what is going on in this "community". we had one group for everyone and then one for the elite. i was in both. in neither of them was any discussion about renaming 69%. so where was it? on the medb.tk forum? no. on the steam groups? i dont know. on teamspeak? where was the alleged democratic discussion?
it was like i said, and i can prove it with the skype chat logs. voetiem got his 69% run, and asked if someone could put it on speedrun.com and the category on the leaderboards. he had 69% in his video title, and i know he ran it as 69% before. and then a minute later it was there as 69 stars. no discussion, nothing whatsoever. that is not democratic. that is autocratic.
now imagine how these strawpolls went: "i, requiem, want 69% to be renamed. walrus wants it too. now lets all do a strawpoll!" very democratic.
imagine how it wouldve went if i said something like this. "hi, its me, naechster from place 42 on the leaderboards with a shitty 41:20 pb. i want the 69% renamed, and place 55 and place 62 want it too. now lets all do a strawpoll."
democracy works from the bottom, not from the top.
my social interaction skills were good enough to work together with nulaft for 1.5 years every day. we had the time of our life, we laughed and cried together.
i'm the one who doesn't talke speedrunning too seriously here. that's why i thought of the fun name 69%, and not of the serious name 69 stars. but these runners who take themselves so seriously cant deal with fun anymore. they dont know what it is to have fun playing mirror's edge anymore. i guess the fun times of mirror's edge speedrunning are finally over. i remember the old times with ovendonkey's streams. you had everything, runs of every category, runs of custom levels, showing of mods, skip and strat hunting. nowadays its 1000 any% resets in prologue for hours on end and nothing else. and of course in times like these, with people like these nobody cares about an actual working multiplayer. for what would you need it, right? it doesnt get you a better place on the leaderboards. its just fun. i know that cause thats what we had all the time, nulaft and i. for 1.5 years. pure fun. thats what people like req and walruns cant have anymore. fun.
the name 69% is fun. cause 69 stars, and % for speedrunning category. it's fun, cause we like to have fun here. right, floubz? no, not anymore. these times are gone for good, floubz, it looks.
so why is there no strawpoll for the other categories?

i watched LITERALLY thousands of hours of your streams. of all of you. starting from when zubmit had a 42 pb. then i wrote memod to mod textures and audio. then i was in stream chats with you. then i did races with you on srl. then i learned how to use the editor. then i did runs on youtube, since streaming was not possible with my shitty computer. then i made a tutorial for the entire game. then i made custom levels together with nulaft. then i made a trainer together with nulaft. then i made a multiplayer together with nulaft. i spent literally every waking hour since jan 2013 with mirrors edge.
and what did i get as a reward from you? my category renamed and a lot of hate and shit talk. thats the sign of pure assholes.

also about any%: there are no collectibles in mirror's edge story mode once you have collected them, so it makes no sense to get any% of collectibles that aren't there. the name any%, it makes no sense! we, the mirror's edge community have all agreed that this has to be changed!

now to be completely honest here, as a beginner in speedrunning some 3 years ago, i thought 100% was about "doing everything in the game". so for mirror's edge this would mean going the casual route. so some kind of "no oob". to know that 100% means "collect all collectibles", you have to read that somewhere, it's not obvious, not self evident. it makes no sense! if you have to READ, if you have to KNOW something, it makes no sense. or so goes the tale, amirite.
