This has been brought up once or twice in the past and hasn't been met favourably by runners of the game. Already, anyone can run on higher difficulties if they want (the leaderboards don't need to dictate what runners choose to do), but since the game's release 2 and a half years ago we've seen zero interest from anyone when it comes to properly routing or running a higher-difficulty category. The consensus among runners is that the added health and damage is more annoying than challenging (and it does not materially change anything about how the run is performed other than tacking on a few minutes of fighting, considering runners are good enough at combat anyway to avoid taking unnecessary hits). Historically, this has also been true for every other RaC game with difficulty options. The community greatly prefers the emphasis on performing tech and movement quickly and keeping a consistent flow to the execution of the run rather than being bogged down by combat. As it stands, there doesn't seem to be a reason to add a difficulty subcategory unless there's a sudden influx of runners who're willing to play it - even then, it's likely it might end up on the category extensions instead.
PCSX2 (or any other emu) has rather inconsistent performance between different systems, and for a game like this where the majority of competition is in the time trials where milliseconds are crucial, it's important that we set a standard so that everyone's on a level playing field and isn't advantaged or disadvantaged by lag and other performance oddities.
I wouldn't be discouraged from running the game though - leaderboards aren't the end-all-be-all when it comes to speedrunning. Right now we have a runner who's been playing solely on AetherSX2, a mobile emulator, and has been having fun improving their time despite not being able to submit. If you enjoy playing the game, I wouldn't worry about the leaderboards at all. People will end up recognising your skill regardless.
This is a really cool clip, I've never really tinkered with using the crate physics in this way before. We do already have a way to skip the Fusion Grenade unfortunately (and we just pick it up in Any% categories because it's hands down the best weapon we can get), and with regards to Low%, Wrench Only fits similar criteria since it does collect the minimum amount of items -
Full ruleset, including run start-end timings and collectible requirements for All Gold Bolts and 100%, will be published at 00:01 UTC on June 13th. Any runs submitted prior to June 13th will be rejected. This date is subject to change if there are any unforeseen discrepancies in timing that are not able to be satisfactorily solved prior to ruleset release.
@Dangerless I've sent you a friend req on Discord, I'll post the images of the convos there rather than clog up this thread.
Is it possible to request the removal of heavily inactive supermods despite the boards being active? The moderators in question are @S_LauGHTeR and @KingKazma , both of which haven't been on srcom in nearly a year and moderate many boards in the Ratchet & Clank series. The former has stated in a moderator chat that he had no intent to moderate and said he couldn't bring himself to remove his mod status himself, and the latter I have talked to in DMs and agrees to removing his s-mods but can't remember the password to his own account. I can provide the receipts if necessary.
https://www.speedrun.com/rac_gm Can 'mobile' be un-checked for this game? It's preventing it from appearing on series page once we unchecked 'Show unofficial games' - since it's an official game, and zero runs are actually done on the mobile device, we'd prefer functionality over having the mobile tag.
Hey there; I'd like to be added as a super mod for https://www.speedrun.com/rac_gm , as the current supermod has been inactive for 9 months + is no longer part of the community. There's been some recent interest in the game and it'd be great if more hands were on deck for moderation and verification.
