I agree with the two posts before me.

I always saw the "guides" tab as a place for TAS's to be posted. "Featured runs" would be interesting, for more than just TAS/SEG. I've seen many people come up with category ideas that are consensed to be not worth adding, and a featured runs tab would enable those types of runs to be demonstrated.

@NeverSeenIt

"I would also like to suggest new categories as well as help xShiko moderator."

It should also be noted that you can do the first of these things without needing to be a moderator. And you can do the second, to some extent.

@Lance_

I've never seen R&M, but South Park can be considered intelligent. The superficial humor of the show might be "dumb", but the deeper satire is culturally relevant and poignant.

Does it need to be an individual leaderboard? Are there enough people creating TAS's and SEGs to justify adding a ranking system? Could "TAS" or "SEG" simply be added as a category to those games that have enough of a TAS/SEG community? Would a SEG board essentially be the sum of a runner's IL submissions (or is SEG not necessarily by level?)?

Also, do SDA and TASv have leaderboards? Their priority seems to be documentation. In that case, creating leaderboards here wouldn't seem to encroach on their territory.

I think the short answer is "yes".

I don't know the exact reason for the rules being the way that they are, but they are simple and clear.

Also, remember to add up your in-game time at the end of your runs. IGT is all that counts on the board.

There is also a link to the AM2R discord in the game's forum. I tried to get someone to respond to you here, but they started explaining it to me instead :P

@TreyLina

Did you make sure that it's the same run, and not an older run with a slower time? If a run is rejected, then it gets replaced by any obsolete runs that may have been posted before.

And whether or not a leaderboard goes by RTA or IGT depends on the game, and for various reasons.

EDIT: so, you should ask the mods of whichever game you are asking about, or post in the forums on the game's page.

@Drakodan

That's fair. I feel the same way about speed running regular Pokemon and RPGs in general. RPGs are far beyond being "less speed friendly" than other games. Pokemon even has a battle system that I find much more worthwhile an endeavor than speed running the game, but there is a huge community of Pokemon runners and fans who would tell me otherwise.

To answer your question "why?"--it's because they want to do it, and they have fun doing it. That is reason enough, even if you or I wouldn't want to.

I initially thought that SRC might do it out of courtesy for people who have privacy concerns. As it turns out, the warning is required by law. Look up the EU cookie law.

"Anyway I didn't intend to parachute into your community and start questioning things you do so apologies if it came over that way."

From my perspective, you have no need to apologize :D This is a forum for discussing speed running, in any capacity.

SRC staff does take some discretion when accepting games to be hosted here. I personally don't know what the exact parameters are, but I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem with you simply proposing your idea.
