Added XtremePrime to Mickey's Safari in Letterland to clarify/adjust timings and rules
I'll add acarebox to Bloodborne. The categories make no sense right now and a bunch of the any% types overlap or are ambiguous as to which version, so try to organize it in a way that is more readable.
The moderation request handlings are a bit ambiguous/inconsistent at the moment, which emphasizes the need for us to lay out some guidelines/expectations, which I will start working on this week. I don't know exactly when I'll finish.
I noted the password change issue previously; at the very least we need a link on the profile/settings page for now. An integrated form through the site is desirable.
The obsoletion chain isn't great right now, I think we need to work to lay out exactly how we want to implement that. A possible solution might be just to list only the single fastest run by a user meeting the given conditions, but this also creates some ambiguity. It needs further discussion I think.
Hmm, I added the amount to your main account.
I can only ban accounts through the interface, can't delete them currently.
Also I can't seem to change the color fade on the "dog" account when I remove the donated amount, which is a bit strange. I'll just leave it as is for now.
You can make patch version a variable like age of empires does: http://www.speedrun.com/aoe2
Most runs on this site and most speedruns people are doing these days are single segment. If you want to do mission runs, that's probably much better suited for Individual Level runs like in this case: http://www.speedrun.com/aoe2/individual_levels
Saves allowed is a fair question, but most runs with save features allow them for full game runs (a few categories don't, but it's usually a separate category when not allowed).
Just from general knowledge:
For a full campaign run (or 1 full piece of the campaign): 1: In-game timer is pretty much unusable for this situation as far as I know. Loading a game or failing a mission would both reset the time for the level I assume, which makes it a relatively bad measurement. 2: When would RTA time be? In this case RTA would probably be "Starting the campaign/mission" to "First sign of completing the last mission" It's not actually as important, because it can be remeasured later and you wouldn't have played differently measuring from two slightly different points most of the time.
For individual levels I'd recommend they be required to be single segment, no loads, or they could get pretty arbitrary.
I'll go ahead and add you as a moderator. There's probably not many people actively running the game so it's certainly difficult to have a discussion about it in the specific case. If more people want to join that discussion, the warcraft 3 specific forum may be a good place for discussion, but it most likely won't be active. In the future feel free to make a separate topic for category discussion or PM me on Twitch. Admins are fairly active on the "The Site" area of the forums.
tl;dr: Age of Empires is handling effectively the same case in a pretty good way.
Says he was online today, but idk. It's good to have more than one mod anyway.
I'm humored by your formal message format.
Most rules are just generic for most games, no cheating etc. Glitched runs sometimes get separated into different categories. Timing is something that can be re-evaluated at a later point.
In general if you're going fast and not cheating, it's probably an acceptable run.
We don't make "official" rules for games, we're just trying to feature good rulesets.
Is there something ambiguous about just beating the game fast that might potentially be banned? What questions would you have?
We do cycle out moderators that haven't been on in a long time as they are brought up, so if you want to make the rules I'm fine with adding you, but I would like to know your questions/concerns first :P
(Also this is probably not the correct thread, but we can finish the discussion here.)
I added you.
Just a friendly reminder to try to contact the mods on Twitch/Twitter before asking in this thread. (Maybe you did, idk)
Hopefully we can get this automated by request forms in the not too distant future.
Your request:
I'll add The Pokemon Demo ( http://www.speedrun.com/Pokemon_Omega_Ruby_and_Pokemon_Alpha_Sapphire_Special_Demo_Version ) as a standalone game for now; I'd prefer to keep the series page ( http://www.speedrun.com/pokemon ) limited to full release games. Maybe having a game type "Demo" would better help us track/organize this. (We've been talking about this for ROM Hack, and maybe it would apply to "Alpha" and "Beta" as well?)
Why it takes so long:
Currently admins verify games. The game queue gets like 10-15 games a day more or less. I generally go on Google/Wikipedia/Steam to verify the game exists, and I search speedrun.com to make sure it doesn't already exist. Sometimes I have to add it to an existing series as well. It can take like a minute or more per game sometimes, so I don't do it every night.
I wrote updated questions for the form to help us streamline approval, but they have not been implemented yet.
I think we've been pretty good about keeping it under 5 days, probably 2-3 on average.
We discussed this in IRC. For anyone else wondering, the future plan is to make the time field title modular and have one timer designated as the primary.
One possible solution for now is to use the main "time" field and clairify it as "in-game" time in the rules.
I had added it to the series.
Then after that I think it violated the rule listed in this thread: http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/kg0yj and was deleted by another mod. Bad timing. :P
It's up now.
I forced the update, it's not 100% automated currently.
If you log out you can reset password in the login box. It needs added on the settings page too.
Done. Also I changed the series abbreviation because it had nothing to do with the game name.
It's imported directly from Twitch's database of partners currently.
They do not have to be on cartridges. ROM hacks should probably include pretty much anything that's made for the system but wasn't really released by Nintendo (Unofficially released material around the time Nintendo was in production is a bit more ambiguous.)
I was hoping we could implement a flag to separate them from official game releases while still having them attached to the parent game (if applicable) Just request to add them for now, and we'll get a better indication for them eventually.
I added these two requests.
I'd prefer to keep the series mods list for Mario Sports relatively small if not nonexistent at times. (Mario sports is a series of relatively disconnected games/communities, kinda like the "Super Mario series", I'd personally probably consider dissolving all the existing mods into the individual games before I'd consider adding more atm.)
