Super moderators shouldn't be able to remove super moderators any more after today's fix. I thought this was fixed a couple weeks ago, but apparently it wasn't. The check box for series moderators have power here might still be bugged, not sure.
There was a bug that was fixed a couple weeks ago that was changing people's status to moderator from super moderator, it might be related. I set you back as a super moderator.
I went to move "Star Wars" to "Minecraft Star Wars", because it conflicts in the search bar with actual Star Wars. The bugged out the leaderboard for it due to an apparent issue with renaming ROM Hacks. The data is still there if we reattach it, but please DO NOT edit anything with that particular hack or add the game again until it is fixed.
Added FFRPro21 to Tetrisphere
I'll make a note of the IE issues, I don't know to what extent the current moderation code would need changed to support this.
EDIT: You can now change your username or delete your account by yourself, in "Settings".
This is the thread to request them. Admins handle these currently. They are processed in forum post order, typically about once a week.
Note: It is much easier to change your account name than it is to move your stuff to a new account after you create it.
Names are case sensitive. Spaces aren't allowed. Maximum is 20 characters. Accepts letters, digits, extended Latin letters, dashes, periods or underscores, without spaces.
Usernames of other users whose names are wanted won't be deleted unless the account has no posts/runs and has been inactive for over a year.
Side note: If you're confused on your next login after posting here, it's probably because your name was changed.
This isn't meant to be used regularly, we're not going to change your name every other day for you.
Deletion requests can also be handled privately through my Twitch PMs. The Twitch account PMing MUST be the same Twitch account linked to your account here at the site.
It has to be done in the database currently. I think the eventual plan is to have a ROM hack/mod (and also homebrews, etc) be denoted by a flag setting and a link to a parent game in the future, this would make it much easier to move things around.
BetaM: Can you point to a specific case?
tdawg91: It seems to be an issue with Twitch's player. I think it was brought to Twitch's attention. (no comment) Might be good to just disable autolinking urls that fit the criteria for now.
I imagine series moderators have the ability to make the change for "series moderators have power here", but I think the most practical thing here at the moment is to remove you as series moderator and assign you to the specific games you want assigned to. (I'd need a list.)
Support for more functionality in options/settings would help, but it's kind of specific/niche, so I don't know when it will get prioritized.
I've added options on the Edit game page to be able to determine whether runs for different regions/platforms should obsolete each other.
I'm not sure exactly what the current logic looks like, but I think the ideal implementation should be something like
1: If two runs on two different platforms show up in the same search, only the faster one should be shown if the "option" is selected, else show both. (Or maybe invert the default, I'm not sure.) 2: If the search list is then sorted to only show a specific platform, show the specific platform run regardless of the "option".
Moderation system is still a bit broken from what i've seen.
Can you elaborate on this? We're still working out some of the smaller functionality details, but is there anything actually broken at the moment?
Frayzlo added to Wings of Vi since the categories aren't really set up atm.
CyclopsDragon added to Distance. I removed the other guy since he doesn't have a run of the game up, and doesn't seem to be actively moderating at a glance (though I didn't bother to verify every single detail)
Sorry, we got a bit behind on requests.
Sunny_M1lk added to fallout series due to inactivity of mod. Did you want me to add you to 2048? DrYoshiyahu added to Star Wars Rogue Squadron as an active runner for category additions ty2358 added to Castlevania 64 since he's an active runner shiningdragoon added to Rygar as an active runner.
PKSCUBE: Normal users can't add runs for other people. We may look into something like suggesting a notable time to add, but moderator review is a key part of site functionality fortunately or unfortunately. Going to go with essentially what Shaddex said for now.
Did I miss anyone's request?
I'd personally rather not give every user access to the game/series requests pending. Recently added games/series I'm somewhat more fine with on a conceptual level, but I feel it will commonly be used to create controversy.
Pending submissions, we do have a backlog on some unmoderated games right now (about 50-75 runs). There is definitely some need to clear that out.
Are these lists actually functionally useful or do they just encourage people to give their 2 cents on everything? We can add more full moderators if there's more need for assistance/oversight.
Project M is currently listed as a ROM hack under brawl, while Super Smash Land is more of a homebrew. I removed it because that's more consistent with what we've been doing, but there's general need to better organize these things.
I'm actually not clear exactly what this means.
There is no realistic way to delete a thread without the posts in the thread no longer existing in the thread. (The thread doesn't exist.)
Is there an issue relating to this? Is there a functionality change being requested?
There is a functionality change relating to this that we'll look to get implemented when we get the chance.
Super mod can add other mods, normal mod cannot. I think that's the only difference right now.
Anyway I guess this discussion isn't really going anywhere else. I'll probably push the team to integrate some "tracked vs featured" changes at some point to add more options, but it may not be in the near future. Misc categories aren't an ideal solution I agree, and I have some ideas to move those around a bit too eventually.
I was editing things to see what was up with the platform bug on ROM hacks someone pointed out a while ago, and it seems there's a glitch in the site with ROM hacks.
We'll try to get this restored as it was, please don't touch it in the meantime.
These are broken, please don't edit them right now. http://www.speedrun.com/sm74ee/ http://www.speedrun.com/sm74
Zywel - I added you. He was active 4 days ago, but it's good to have more than one person available.
AuroraAri - Sorry, I was a little quick with processing the request. I don't really know exactly how I should ideally be handling cases for games with the moderator has no run of the game. I really have no idea if the user submitted the request and then spent 30 seconds on the board. When a user who runs the game submits a reasonable change request for a board where the moderator(s) has/have no run, I usually give them moderator because it generally makes more sense than the current situation where the moderator has no run and is making the rules.
I don't exactly have the time to go through potentially 3+ day turnarounds with PMs on various sites every time someone has a request in this thread. I generally try to use all the information available at the time to make a reasonably quick decision. Twitter messages aren't private and I do not really like using my personal Twitter for this purpose. Twitch messages get sent to the spam box 50%+ of the time. Admittedly this would be easier if our speedrun.com PM implementation was completed.
EDIT: Also site integrated forms for moderation requests that go through the moderators first might be useful, but it would need some planning.
