are you talking about TSS? you need to press enter on the restart game screen and then click on the top left corner of the screen. immediately skip tutorial and you should be at the start without warping to the middle of the island

the cutscene has to start playing before the game gives you the scroll for the sport. if you can pause on the frame before the cutscene starts then you can skip the cutscene and get the scroll -

I've just come up with a route for a certain room in Chasm Cove regular, that lets you clear it in 6 orbs. This route isn't used in the IL WR, and I think it might save some time (although, it's a bit harder to pull off)

yeah that works; i've seen it done in other games (like how in super mario bros the lost levels, a D-4 run can also count as a 8-4 run)
