Anything in place for putting the layouts together? As of now, we just have the example images.

I don't know the best way of doing it for the streaming software, but i'll work with whoever does, if were using my template

Is there a google sheet/form where we should put that info? forum probably isn't the best medium

  1. Yes
  2. Most likely the whole schedule
  3. N64 and Genesis, both in 4:3 Composite/SVideo/RGB
  4. I could, but I thought there was a thread to figure out who was bringing consoles
  5. No

"Schedule" tab could be updated

SNES games look better in their native internal resolution of 8:7 IMO. It'd probably be easiest to complete the schedule before exploring all the edge cases. But yeah, they'll be easy enough to implement.

Thanks for the feedback, y'all. I'm not gonna tinker with too many minor changes just yet, since we're months out and other designs may pop up. Best to just find the right "look & feel" at this point.

Thanks, Lanayru

Glaedr - Your concern about the eye-popping colors was the big thing for me when I put that together. Wanted to make sure the gameplay was always the focus, so I tried to stick to a decent looking, but easy-to-ignore color scheme. Some sort of country icon could go next to the runner name, though.

As for the border around the camera - you're right, and it crossed my mind when I looked at them again today. Would probably just go one way or the other, rather than a mix of both. Probably the solid border like you said.

I sent over some stream layout drafts a while ago. I'm gonna put that in its own thread, since the critiques and other designs could drown out the other volunteers here.

Here, I'll be linking image albums of potential NASA 2016 stream layouts.

Feel free to leave your opinions/critiques of the drafts below. If you have a layout of your own, link it and I'll edit it into the below list.

Getting the call to come through on stream would be easy. Getting it so that the runner(s) can hear the person on the call and vice versa would probably be the more difficult part.

Not entirely sure who's on tech or what equipment we're working with here, though.

FWIW, the current implementation is pretty much what I was thinking. I think it works.

I haven't done runs of the game, so take my opinion for what it's worth, but I agree that an IL leaderboard seems reasonable in this case.

There are clear, distinct levels with beginnings and ends. In-game time is displayed at the end of each level. You can start any level on demand.

Edenal, I think your argument - "I'm against individual levels unless it's selectable from the menu without passwords" - is a bit pedantic. My main game requires a password to unlock the level select screen, and I consider the ILs to be the best part of running it.

There's the common strawman/complaint that runners just want more , but that should be an issue with those people, not the leaderboard. The leaderboard is just there to organize times.

If you wanted to, you could just have three J categories and have difficulty as a filter, but yeah, it doesn't matter until someone runs it. Thanks for the answer.

"Main categories are all the USA versions, where as the Japanese version is the misc categories with all the different difficulties"

Hey. I'm not too familiar with the game. Can you explain why this decision was made?

edit: is it because the Japanese version has difficulty options while the US version does not?

When you say the non-24hr is cheaper, keep in mind you'd need to pay for 2-3 more days of renting a room.

24hr makes for a better stream for viewers, but as an attendee, it'd be nice to have designated time where you can go out or drink in someone's room without feeling guilty over not supporting your speedboys.

I have a PEXHDCAP and Component splitter, assuming I'm able to go. Some RGB equipment if it goes in that direction.

So what's the idea for the setup - convert everything to HDMI?

I think the main point you're missing is that there's literally zero reason for you to be in charge of this leaderboard.

I don't mean to dent your pride, but this site doesn't really require "experience" to operate - it's a spreadsheet. If you have suggestions, suggest them. Capitalizing the game correctly is a fair idea, albeit minor, but it can be done in 2 seconds without handing over the keys to someone who has never ran the game.

Regardless of whether or not you think a category would be fun, there's no need to make a leaderboard for it if no one has ran it yet, and there's no reason to make a random person supermod in order to add a category.

People realize this site has built-in sorting for difficulty, right? You don't need to make multiple leaderboards for each category.

(Jumpyluff - notice how I made a suggestion without trying to take control of the LB)
