This is an up-to-date list of skips in Hamsterball maintained by XoanoN: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IW96CwowJ98BRJU6Tyws1yygGSumwhG0XrPP4E_yoko/edit?usp=sharing Among other details, it outlines what is and isn't allowed in NMS runs.
This mod may be used in All Unlocks runs to avoid having to manually reset the unlock pads on every attempt. It works by resetting the unlock pad every time a race is loaded: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/554092318286938116/1017778210886397992/Unlock_Reset.bps
To avoid having to reunlock the arenas for normal play, the mod also unlocks every arena when the Rodent Rumble menu is opened.
The file is a BPS patch that is applied to Hamsterball.exe. You can use Floating IPS to apply it: https://dl.smwcentral.net/11474/floating.zip Make sure not to overwrite the original game!
As some of you have probably noticed by now, the way runs are categorized has been overhauled.
For full-game runs, we've merged Normal and Frenzied difficulties, as the only differences between them are the time allotted and the score awarded, neither of which matter for a speedrun. In this case, the difficulty is shown next to the time in the leaderboard.
For individual-level runs, we've elevated the usage, or lack thereof, of skips to main category status, which means no-skips runs are now shown in a separate column, instead of not at all.
If you have any questions, post them below!
For some reason, keyboard controls have much less acceleration than mouse controls. If you use keyboard, I can assure you your time will be bad.
I made a post a few days ago where I listed some rules I suggested for what counts as a skip. That post has been deleted because, as it turns out, those rules were crap. The following is a list of every shortcut that I'm aware of and my suggestion for its ban status:
Warm Up: Jumping down from start (banned) U-turn skip (banned)
Beginner: Skipping last ramp before each bridge
Intermediate: Double corner cut Small ramp skip after tube #2 Trap jump (banned)
Dizzy: Tube #1 skip (banned) Alternate spiral entry (banned) Spiral skip (banned) Water wheel skip (banned)
Tower: Path swap (banned) (useless)
Up: Tube #2 skip (banned) Loop skip (banned) Boost ramp detachment (banned)
Neon: Light peg skip (banned) Spiral #1 skip (banned)
Expert: Big ramp to goal (very hard)
Odd: U-turn #1 skip (banned) U-turn #2 skip (banned) Left-gravity #1 skip (banned) Left-gravity #1 to left-gravity #2 (banned) 8-ball #1 to twin spiral (banned) Left-gravity #2 to goal (banned) Right-gravity #2 skip (banned)
Toob: Tube #1 skip (banned) Upper path skip (banned) Tube #6 skip (banned)
Wobbly: Steep ramp skip (banned)
Glass: Bridge to nowhere (ridiculously hard) (banned)
Sky: Pre-glass skip (banned)
Master: 1st cycle bridge (banned) Bridge drop (banned) Hammer skip (banned) Tube #4 skip (banned) Catapult skip (banned) Tube #5 skip (banned)
Impossible: Catwalk #1 skip (banned) Catwalk #3 skip (banned) Tube #2 skip (banned) Catwalk #4 skip (banned)
OBS muted the desktop audio on its own and I didn't realize until after I finished streaming. Should I overlay the BGM or leave it as-is?
I propose that Normal and Frenzied difficulties be treated as identical categories, as the only differences are time allotted and score awarded, neither of which matter in a speedrun.
