To expand upon what Mal has said, the goal with the leaderboards currently is twofold: One is to have as low a barrier to entry as possible, i.e. be able to create a new wizard and start speedrunning. Anything that would delay this such as having to grind for certain pets, purchasing items, or other prep work goes against this. Two is to provide a public leaderboard for the categories that are the most in demand. Adding any categories/sub-categories is done only at the support and request of the active community. This does not stop anyone from doing runs that they find fun and posting them online, many wizard city challenge runs that exist are not on the leaderboards.
Another thing I would like to note is wizard101 central and other wikis is incomplete/incorrect which makes it hard to confirm the authenticity sometimes. Because of this, what dungeon runs would look like has made little progress on how we would properly police it/ensure that it is fair for runners.
We are always open to ideas so if this is something you are interested in helping solve, we are more than happy to listen.
Hello, I will be hosting the Colossus Cup tournament. Players will race to save Colossus Boulevard from the clutches of the Gobbler King. For more information, join the wizard101 speedrunning discord: https://discord.gg/pPPu8BCdGd
I have attempted this before and the current issue is that the "Savior of Wizard City" Badge that you are supposed to obtain when you complete all the quests seems bugged. I have been thinking about investigating it again but without an easy way to check the completion of the quests it would be hard to verify.
Recently Wizard City (mainly Tritan Avenue) received an update adding additional quests and changing the story. How will this affect the categories going forward?
