@YoniArousement IOS 11 added screen recording as a built in feature. Go to Settings>Control Center>Customize Controls. Scroll down through the options to find screen recording, click the green plus, then it will show up as a circle inside another in then menu that is shown when you swipe up on the bottom of the screen.
Also, if you have an Xbox One, with a good internet, you don’t need a capture card for HD consoles. The Xbox has an HDMI in AND out on the back. If you open one guide on the Xbox, then it will display whatever’s going through the HDMI in port. From here, go to your Windows 10 computer and open the Xbox app. Go to where you can stream your console, then screen record this. Sadly, I recently sold my Xbox to fund a gaming PC, so that’s that
Didn’t block it for me, at least on windows 10. Norton likes to block all sorts of stuff, especially ROMs, so I have to download stuff on my laptop, then OneDrive it onto the computer
Windows’ own antivirus won’t, Norton doesn’t, I’m not sure about others
Because of the Elgato HD’s EOS (end of service), the prices are realllly high, it’s cheaper to buy a gvusb2 and an Elgato hd60 lol. Also, a lot of people can’t get the gvusb2 to work with OBS, but they can with Amarec TV. If you’re dedicated to OBS, use Amarec as a Window Capture source
The converters give you input lag, and to speed runners (especially of retro games) this is extremely noticeable. All those normies out there don’t notice but we do lol. I’m not familiar with the RCA output and it’s capture cards, but Elgatos are good for HD. Just in case, the GV-USB 2 (correct me if I’m wrong on the name) can record composite for a really good price. Depending on the console, Wii U and Xbox 360 actually support composite cables, so this would be a cheaper alternative to an Elgato for running those consoles’ games. But as an answer to your main question, it does seem that you will have to buy two cards.
Could I run the same category on different platforms, but have separate times? For example, I'm running SM64, but I play on both Emu and N64. Would it be possible to have my name appear twice on the leaderboard with one time as my N64 time, and the other time be my Emu run? Thank you
@TheGreatToddman Yeah lol I looked at your profile and saw Tetris, I downloaded BizHawk and an emulator and started playing. I used to think I was good at Tetris lol @Drakodan For sure, that's why I brought the problem to the forums to get suggestions. I've been changing my route up for SM64 almost every week lately lol but once I get a semi-permanent one (for those of you who know this game, I can't get cannonless yet) I'll start going hard on that. @MelonSlice Thank you for the advice, I'll probably do that to be honest with you, run different categories as well.
Thanks guys, I think I'm going to be dedicated to SM64 for a while though. SMO is definitely something I want to get back into, and I'm excited to try out NSMBU.
Yeah, I do one run and its like "I PB'd, good night everyone." Sometimes I just get sick of it halfway through and barely put any effort into it lol
@LothloranChibicore That's awesome lol, my recommendation is to start with emulators audience gasps, most computers can handle AT LEAST N64 games. Easy for recording if you don't have the $$$ for a capture card. You can also run web games, which can be fun. Meteor 60 Seconds! is a fun, free mobile game, and depending on your device it can be easy to record, although I think its easier to run on PC. There are plenty of games on Steam, GameJolt, and other indie game sites, free and otherwise to have some fun with. A few must-haves: OBS (you can record or stream your gameplay) Livesplit (unless you're running games that use an in-game timer (IGT)) A good attitude (This really can make all the difference, sometimes a break is good, other times you just need to find the right game)
Is it bad that I simply lack the motivation to grind one game? I started speedrunning with SMO, but that was before I started recording runs. Now I'm looking into SM64 a lot more than I thought I would, but I'm also practicing NSMBU on the side, with intentions to get into Odyssey again this summer with (hopefully) a capture card. In addition, I run smaller games when I finish (or before I start) SM64 runs. I also almost never do two runs in a night. I realize I'm just starting out, but am I biting off more than I can chew?
Sounds pretty cool to me, I’d love to try it out
So I recently submitted a SM64 31 star run and it was rejected because all category extensions must be vods. I've seen twitch voids be frowned upon, would this be okay? I would basically use twitch as a way to verify my runs, and if anyone wants to pop in they can I guess but I'm not looking to become the next Ninja or PewDiePie lol
I've seen Battle for Bikini Bottom as a popular one, although starting out can be above 2 hours with wr at barely sub hour. Original Xbox is fastest? All of the top 20ish play on it
Another way is to create the video (OBS, Windows 10 record, cringe Screencastify) and then upload it to OneDrive or Google Drive and get a shareable link.
I should be getting my n64 in on Tuesday, I practiced on emu for a while, submitted a run today. I'm excited to see how it works out. I used an Xbox One controller on emu so I should be goodish
