who's Garsh and why are they mod, also NG+ isn't very different to our normal categories
Might be worth to make a google sheet for high scores, as well. Just wanna share this lol: https://imgur.com/a/0kzPfYv
okay, i finished that sheet, and the level types break down into a few categories:
-
Absolutely can be speedrun and should be on the site: Time Trial, Holo Chase, Platform Hop, Tightrope Run, Hill Climb, Gauntlet, Extreme Duel (I think)
-
Can be speedrun, although it only really makes sense if you try and get 3 medals: Drift Challenge, Wall Drift (only Palisade Pizzazz, Double Dutch Drift has no goal), Downhill Drop, Juggernaut
-
Doesn't really make sense / can't be speedrun: Elimination, Speed Record, Push Challenge, Crash Course, Parachute Precision, Freestyle, Wall of Death
ya i saw, ggs, i'm working on this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QVyAALIDOiWGxcTgyMzqY0aZqXM9YoKzv45Kf0AuJTg/edit#gid=0
ye, ILs are kind of a mess because they have different objectives and some can't be speedran (at least meaningfully)
I'm gonna make Any%, All Levels, and All Medals the main categories, and the teams / all teams as subcategories, so just switching their positions, I think it makes more sense that way
we could get stuff like an All Teams run too, where its just all four teams done in succession. if you need help organising the boards and making rules feel free to mod me, i am a moderator for the cuphead leaderboards so you're in good hands ;)
I think it's kinda hacky, but technically it's an emulator, so if you don't already use that it might be a good option
any% shouldn't require all events, only the ones required to get to stage six. you could have subcategories: "Any%", "All Events", "100%", where 100% would be like, get all paint jobs and 3 medals on every event or something, idk i just downloaded this game
and for the current rules, time stops when when you complete the final event, right? (also i am using an emulator for wii u because the pc version is impossible to find)
bet
update: pretty sure i beat his time
Hi, I'm a moderator of cuphead, and we have a large community of players who speak languages other than English, most notably Spanish (as our largest players, rickyedit and TMR, are large spanish twitch streamers).
Having so many non-english runners inspired us to make translations for other languages, not just spanish. Speedrun.com doesn't provide much support for this, so I've had to come up with our own way of providing these. You can see how I've implemented them if you open up the rules and go to the Game Rules tab on any category (also the japanese translation has many strats as well, and as such it has it's own guide to house it as well).
I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue and how they've overcome it. I am a strong advocate for native src support for this, as I think it's extremely important to internationalise the community and support runners of other languages.
In my opinion, just because "It looks like all the maps are not connected to each other at all. In this case, there is no point in making full game categories - you don't play "the entire game", you only play a map of your choice, one map at a time.", it doesn't mean that there is no value in trying to play all the levels of the game in succession.
I'm not familiar with the game, but many many games have something akin to a level select screen and choose to include a full game category. It's a game, I assume that there is some point at which you could say you "beat" the game, whether that's completing all the levels, completing levels up to a certain meaningful point (where pre-game and post-game are clearly defined), and you can have things like 100% runs on top of this.
(however, if this does not make sense for your game AT ALL, and whatever community forms around the game have no interest in running the full game, completely disregard what I said. you can always add full-game runs later if there's interest)
@Timmiluvs has put it really well.
Elo isn't being held to the same standards as the volunteers before them, they're being held to higher ones. @MrMonsh is right, acknowledgement in the thread in a similar manner to RLM would be very appreciated.
