The most important thing in speedrunning is a good mental space and not pushing for your goals too hard. The ultimate goal is to be the best or reach a time set by yourself.
Play and watch, I've never really understood the appeal of it and I still don't but I still get my eyes glued to live runs.
I'm new and the community hasn't impacted me much, but whenever I reach out for help with improving my runs in discord there are always people answering instead of leaving me hanging.

I did receive the cd however I didn't know what to do with it. The current pc I use doesn't have a cd slot.
I bought a cheap capture card recently https://www.amazon.com/REDGO-Video-Capture-Converter-Adapter/dp/B01E5ITE2W/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=red+go+capture+card&qid=1602976866&s=electronics&sr=1-2 in order to capture gameplay on the wii. When I connected the cables into the capture card plugged into my pc I went to obs under video capture device and no options for the capture card appeared. please help I cannot afford an expensive capture card.
Check the rules of the run you are submitting because it will depend. I did a run without a timer and timed it afterwards on my phone's stopwatch and was fine.
