Hey, if you click on the 'filter' drop-down and sort by platform you can see leader boards for every console/machine Silent Hill 2 was officially released on. I think it shows the PC board first because it has more runners but there are multiple categories where you are able to compete with just console runners.
Hope this sheds some light on the situation. :)
You could use Fraps and record it at half size. It doesn't really take that much processing power that way but your videos may look like potato depending on what resolution you're playing at.
I also sometimes install the games I'm running on a flash drive that way there's no interruption between gameplay and recording. If you do this I recommend optimizing the flashdrive you are using in the advanced property tabs that way it'll load faster and windows can set up a cache for it.
You will have to eject it every time before you unplug it tho so you don't corrupt any files but this method will guarantee faster load times while leaving your harddrive free to focus on saving your video.
Hope this helps :)
Thanks for responding guys!
I guess I thought that the rng saved more time then it actually does and yeah my movement is kind of choppy in some parts and my menu speed could improve but here is my 6th place run that I am still waiting on to be verified: https://www.speedrun.com/sh2/run/y6le92jy
Hey, I was wondering if there is a timer difference between different PC ports of this game? I'm using V1.0 and I cannot for the life of me crack sub 40m even while doing the rng manipulation, quick load and out of boundary strats.
This run here was 40m 03s: https://www.speedrun.com/sh2/run/kz5k5pnz
In this run the player does not use any rng, out of boundary or quick load making him have to backtrack to read the hangman and grab his weapons from the hotel elevator room while having visit extra rooms to read codes.
He was still able to get almost sub 40m on a Director's Cut seed of this game even tho he added unnecessary time to the run. Does this affect the timer at all or is there something else I am missing? TY
