Soldier does make a fair point, I forgot about the wall-riding rule and the track limits on turn one were a bit fuzzy. Still, I believe this run beat the run which included cuts.
Are there plans to implement the 4 expansions into the boards? I've noticed others have made posts about this, but there has been no response on them.
I figured it'd be similar to the explorsica but i suppose it could be that too, alright thats fair just wanted to clarify before doing a run try
I would like to try the isles of Greece as a run, but upon inspection, Argostoli would be rather out of the way (requires going to Patras then driving to Athens or Kalamata to access the other islands). What would be done in this situation? Exclude Argostoli, or the time from Patras to Athens/Kalamata becomes a part of the run?
In that case, the isles of Greece could be something like explorsica but idk. Argostoli, Crete, Rhodes, Chios, Mitilini being the relevant islands. Otherwise theres really not much else that could be considered (other than sicilly or sardinia but eh)
Also, I suggested regional capitals because, in some of these countries, visiting every city there might be very time consuming. That said, an all-cities category for a given country might be okay for the smaller nations.
Countries which could be considered:
- Bulgaria
- Latvia
- Lithuania
- Estonia
- Denmark
- Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Serbia
Many countries in Europe (Germany, Spain, Italy, France etc) are split into autonomous or administrative regions or something of that accord. I was thinking, for some of these bigger nations, we could have a category to discover the capitals of said regions. Not every region's capital is included in ETS2 but a majority of them are. I'd imagine it being similar to the All Capitals runs, potentially smaller in scope as you only need to explore one country instead of much of Europe. I can give one a try tomorrow, but here's the one's I've looked at thus far:
- France (Ajaccio, Bordeaux, Dijon, Lille, Lyon, Marsellie, Nantes, Paris, Rennes, Strasbourg, Toulouse); (Bourges (Centre-Val de Loire), Le Harve (Normandy))
- Spain (Barcelona, Bilbao, Santander, Madrid, Murcia, Pamplona, Seville, Valladolid, Valencia, Zaragoza); (Ciudad Real (Castilla-La Mancha), Vigo (Galicia), Badajoz (Extremadura), Gijon (Asturias))
- Italy (Ancona, Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Catanzaro, Florence, Genoa, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Rome, Trieste, Turin, Venice); (Terni (Umbria), Pescara (Abruzzo))
- Germany (Kiel, Hamburg, Bremen, Hanover, Magdeburg, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Erfurt, Dresden, Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt am Main (works for both Rhineland-Phalz and Hessen, could use Kassel for Hessen)); (Rostock (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern)
- United Kingdom (Edinburgh, London, Cardiff) This might not be the best, if Ireland & North Ireland are added maybe it could be added then
- Greece-% (Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Larissa, Patras, Herakilion); (Rhodes (Admin. of Aegean))
- Portugal-$ (Porto, Coimbra, Lisbon, Faro, Setubal); (Evora (Alentejo), Cortiçadas de Lavre (Oeste e Vale do Tejo))
With the Northern Scandinavia DLC on its way, its possible Sweden, Norway and Finland could be considered for this category.
Cities in italics are cities which could represent the region in parenthesis, as the region's capital is not in ETS2.
% Greece is divided by the 7 decentralized administrations.
$ Portugal is divided acording to the 7 administrative regions of the country. It can be divided in other ways, but that basically just becomes going to every city in Portugal.
That's what I would figure, in that case the Missouri run as-is would probably not count (after all i finished the time before Rolla was actually discovered) but its good to know for the future. Good to know about the services though.
Here are two runs I did, first of Missouri (@~21 min mark) and of Utah (@~1:36). Not the best times on either, but they're a start. I think the category is attainable, the only hiccup or roadblock is that sometimes city discovery is weird. However, it seems you can discover all the cities you want during the first job, so there should be a standard way of keeping track of what cities have been discovered.
Heres a run of the oregon viewpoints. (hopefully its uploaded by the time you check)
I did a run of Nebraska for fun, I'm gonna try oregon as I think that will be more varied.
after doing about half the route, doing it fast is terrifying but fun
Working on a route through colorado from durango to fort collins:
That was also the idea behind the Idaho Viewpoints run
To that end, would we want to add the other states with viewpoints? Pretty much every DLC has added viewpoints for their respective state. I'll try running some tonight too.
So I'm thinking rules-wise, is it basically new profile where you set your start point in whatever city you want within that state, and the moment you start to move is when time starts, time finishes when you discover the last city? That's what im going to go with
Thats fair, ill see if i can come up with ones as colorado has a lot of winding twisty roads which sound like they would be goofy to run along
