I am interested in this run but there isn't much by way of documentation here. Any pointers or guides? I don't understand why the WR doesn't take the green pickups in the first two levels, for example. What is the optimal route, and why?
I am working on this right now. TheMotherBrain86 have you ever put together any guides or how-to videos for this stuff? I would like to hear how you pull off the first level in particular.
Hey, I'm working on this with CovidKid and just wanted to pop in to ask a bit more about it, as well. I think we can do a no bomb run as well.
My preference is for the sound to be off. However, if it is required for verification I understand why it would need to remain on. If it is very low and I play music over it I am not certain that is better than no sound.
Having a clear rule posted in the rules is the most important thing. I'll follow whichever rule-set you choose.
Hi folks,
I'm running this (on a famicom emulator - FCEUX) and the in-game sound is not wonderful to listen to for multiple runs. Can we get a ruling on if it is necessary to have in-game sound on in the run video? I can just shut the sound off and listen to music while I stream it and that is preferable.
Cheers, Zericc
Moderation Request: Jump Ball, 2015 (iOS, Android).
I'm requesting to be added as a mod for this game in addition to the current moderators @Hashirama, @soupG, and @Pottary.
I've looked over the requirements for moderation requests, and I believe I meet them:
- I have three runs submitted for this game that have not been moderated
- the moderators have not logged on for 4 years, 23 days, and 4 months, respectively
- my account is well older than 30 days (over 1 year, at this point)
- I have selected multi-factor authentication
Hi there,
I recently became a mod for this game and wanted to make a post about categories and rules. I have made the following updates to the game's page.
- the French version, Les Chevaliers Du Zodiaque, is now a separate category because if has different enemies/obstacles and some other gameplay elements.
- I have removed the only old run for the Japanese version. I would prefer not to have done this, but there is no video for it. I can find some runs of it on niconico but it generally appears that folks are using turbo for those runs.
I have updated the general rules, as well as the specific rules. If anyone has any questions about the rationale for the updates feel free to let me know. I took the language from more popular games and copy/paste it here.
I recently became a mod of this game. I have rejected the video you mentioned for not having video. I did make an effort to find that player on niconico, but it is unclear if the run uses auto-fire/turbo.
Moderation Request: Saint Seiya: Ougon Densetsu, 1987 (NES).
I'm requesting to be added as a mod for this game in addition to the current moderator @Kaorru.
I've looked over the requirements for moderation requests, and I believe I meet them:
- I have a run submitted for this game that has not been moderated
- I posted forum discussions to the series forum, not just this specific game, one month ago with no response
- I have sent messages to Kaorru, the sole mod for the game, on Speedrun.com, Twitch, and Twitter with no response and can provide screenshots if necessary
- Kaorru has not logged in to Speedrun.com for 22 days
- my account is well older than 30 days (over 1 year, at this point)
- I have selected multi-factor authentication
Hi there,
I'm working on a route for Les Chevaliers Du Zodiaque: La legende d'Or, which is the France-only port of Saint Seiya: Ougon Densetsu (NES) (1987). I understand that generally Speedrun.com uses the English name of a game, and defaults to the home language, often Japanese, of the game if there is no English localisation. I know this isn't a hard and fast rule, but I think with Les Chevaliers Du Zodiaque there is a unique difference in that there is a separate version of the game that only exists and was marketed in France.
I'm not asking for mod privileges, as I understand it is generally frowned upon to make that sort of request without even submitting a run. However, I would like to get the conversation going about a new leaderboard for the game as I get the run together.
My reasoning is this:
- Les Chevaliers Du Zodiaque is not simply a language translation of Saint Seiya: Ougon Densetsu, there are enemy/obstacle differences. The Japanese version also has exploits that don't exist in the French version.
- the names are significantly different. You can't search for Les Chevaliers Du Zodiaque on Speedrun.com and come up with a leaderboard. No where in the game does it say "Saint Seiya", nor does it say that on the box or the NES carte.
Thanks for your time, I look forward to getting a run on the boards for this game!

I'm in favour of integrating them into SpeedRun.com because it would result in a more streamlined user experience. Only one account, one website to search, one tab to log into on my computer. Clicking on a person's account and seeing what they're run in speedruns and high scores is better than finding their (potentially different) accounts on two sites. It also opens up the possibility of someone having a username on one of the sites, and it being taken by someone else on the other.
I hear what is being said about the watering down of the name. I don't entirely think it is worth creating a sister site over. Its not like "Twin Galaxies" says anything about high scores in its name, and people came to know it as the authority over time. If we centralise high scores here and the site remains credible, people will defer to this site. It is a matter of credibility not of name.
Overall, I'm just happy you folks are working on it. Keep up the good work.
Hi folks,
Feel free to have me ask these questions elsewhere, if it would be more appropriate. I've been working on a few runs of StarTropics and I would like to submit a PB at some point. I want to make sure I will qualify.
I'm using an emulator/rom setup and recording it on OBS along with my LiveSplit times. If I simply upload the recording to Vimeo and submit a link, will that satisfy the validation process?
Thanks a bunch, Zericc
