This is great, I ask for more information to try and diagnose the issue and help you. But you don't elaborate at all.
This is like going to the doctors and saying "I feel ill", and then wondering why you don't immediately get prescribed exactly what you need.
Although, it does sound like you're trying to create a post of some sorts and are trying to overcome to minimum character limit?
But I do agree with your point that the site doesn't give very good error messages. But I can still help you out here if you describe what you've done to cause this error. As I haven't came across this exact error message before.
Yeah, as other moderators who have games need to change their URLs stuff aswell lol.
But URLs are case insensative, and you get redirected to the correct one.
Also, update the old links on guides/resources/forum posts/Discord after you change the URL. And I'm sure less people than you expect are impacted by this change.
when changing the difficulty to easy in the main menu and then playing. Pressing B will change the difficulty to Normal instead of to easy which is what it was already on
What I just described is how to fix that bug.
With the in-game menu, changing the difficulty doesn't update it for your current game, but instead changes it for the next game. So it will then be on easy, your chosen difficulty, everytime you reset by pressing B.
v1.7.4+ has the code near the door in a draw
And v1.7 - v1.7.3 have it in the sewer.
Since the code's position was changed between versions.
If you look at the run's Version annotation, it'll tell you what version they're on.
And sadly there isn't a preset mod yet for v1.7.4+
For which game? As every game has their on rules on this. So view that game's rules or ask in their Discord or forums.
And a quick way to see if emulation is banned or not is by goinng onto the submit run page and seeing if you can check the emulator box, or if it says emulators are banned.
I don't know if I'm banned
You're not banned, you wouldn't be allowed to do anything or make forum posts if you were. And your username would be greyed out.
Can you submit runs now? As this is just the site being annoying
To fix this, once your in a game, open the in-game menu and change your difficulty.
It should now be fixed for when you restart the game
It's because game names cannot be duplicates.
The games being
To get a name updated, submit a support ticket under "Change an existing game or series" and then "Other".
I'm not sure how these games are different, but you could put the type of platform they're runnable on in brackets at the end (like other games in the series). You could also put the year it was released, but I wouldn't recommend this as the year is present next to the name in most contexts on the site.
Also the game that's the most popular probably shouldn't have brackets at the end.
You don't moderate the 2nd game, so you can't directly submit a ticket to get it updated. But you could ask in the support ticket to get that game's name updated, and as it's in the same series, I'm sure site staff will allow it
That is an issue with the site, and it's meant to stop spam. But it doesn't seem to like new accounts that much.
Try waiting a day or try again in a few hours and you should be allowed to submit a run. And this is an issue that a lot of new accounts are experiencing sadly.
Yeah, they are on v1.2.1.
Some really old runs are on an older version though. However, there are like 2 of these.
What would this percentile tell us?
It doesn't really matter about the popularity. But the game must have some sort of ending, rather than just an infinite game. So if it doesn't have a proper ending, then it mostly likely isn't gonna be accepted.
However, level based games are accepted. Instead of a video playing the entire game, maybe try playing the first 10 levels, or the first area or group of levels. And then say in the description of the request how many more levels there are, that it's a level based game, and that it's not pratical to play through them all.
Ask in that game's forum or Discord. As these are the general forums for the site.
A game's forum is under the "Forums" tab on the game's page.
And to join a game's Discord (if it has one), then near the game's title, it's the "Discord" button.
Submit a new support ticket to request it (Help > New ticket). https://www.speedrun.com/support/tickets/new
I'd be under the category of "Add a new game to Speedrun"
Where do you get this message after preforming what action? Could you provide more context?
@Pac founded the site in 2013 and he owned it until 2020. Becuase the site was brought by Elo Entertainment Inc.
@Lawliepop and @Camcorder are both co fonders of the company.
@Lawliepop used to be Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Elo until 2022. She's now Chairman of the Board, and has moved onto other projects.
@Camcorder is the Cheif Techinical Officer (CTO).
@Camcorder seems to be the main guy who does updates on this site. Since he's made a bunch of forum posts about updates around the time of the site redesign. Elo also has other employees who have worked on the site.
(Sorry for the pings)
However, I'm not sure who the current CEO is. But I think it's obviously best to consider @Camcorder as the person who "owns" the site.
If you wanna see other Elo employees, then there's this sligtly outdated pinned The Site forum post that lists the staff.
