They were rejected form both boards for being low effort trolls with the sole objective of stirring up drama to use for content on his channel. That had nothing to do with the rule requiring submission to mmlb.
no runs have been rejected.
The moderation team is aware of the rule change.
All that being said, nothing is preventing you from playing the game the way you like. I encourage you to continue running one hp with or without a leaderboard if that is what you enjoy.
Not every challenge run needs a speedrun leaderboard. As teemu said, a one hp run would be near identical to the standard any percent run with the exception that the consequences for mistakes would be much higher. Buster only and glitched password runs differ substantially in gameplay from any other category on the board.
In late August it was brought to the Discord moderators' attention that a certain runner had been expressing some extremely abhorrent views in community members' Twitch chats, private DMs, and their own stream. After careful consideration it was decided that this behavior was in clear violation of rule #2 (No racism/sexism/bigotry of any kind on any platform) of the Discord server and the user was banned from the Discord. We would like to reiterate that rule #2 does not exist to punish people for having certain views; rather, it exists to ensure that present and future members of the community are respected. This should be a space where all walks of life feel welcome to participate in the discussion, action, and celebration of Mega Man X speedrunning, without having to defend core aspects of their identity.
Following the Discord ban the discussion was continued among mods of the x1 leaderboard. As far as the leaderboard mods were concerned, there were three options: we could do nothing, we could remove the times completely, or we could anonymize the entries. The moderators believe that a community driven leaderboard of self submitted runs is more than just some objective list of times, it is a representation of the community as a whole. As such, it is not required that any leaderboard promote users who engage in behavior that goes against community values. To that end, the decision was made to anonymize the time by removing the users name and stripping the video of all references to the runner. The run and entry itself will be preserved for the sake of posterity, leaderboard accuracy, and learning purposes.
Both mod teams realize that we made some serious mistakes. Most obviously, our communication of these issues was suboptimal and for that we apologize. However, we stand by our decisions and will continue do our best to promote a diverse, welcoming community full of all types of individuals.
Due to the difficult nature of maintaining two separate but accurate leaderboards we will no longer be accepting runs submit to speedrun.com that haven't already been submit and verified at megamanleaderboards.net. You may still submit runs to this board, but know that they will not be verified here until they are first verified on our primary leaderboard at mmlb. If a run submit here is not submit to megamanleaderboards.net within two weeks it will be rejected with a link pointing you to the proper place to submit. When submitting at megamanleaderboards.net, be sure to fill out the speedrun.com username portion of your profile to help us make sure that your runs are linked to your proper srcom account. Any questions or concerns can be directed to the mods either here in the forum, or via discord. Thanks for your cooperation.
Hey, sorry. Megamanleaderboards.net is our primary leaderboard, and this board sort of takes a back seat to that one. Your run was left hanging because there was a question about console. You listed SNES as your console, but it appears that both of the runners are playing on emulator and no emulator was listed. If this is the case, please resubmit the run properly (be sure to follow the emulator specific rules,) and it will be verified accordingly. If we are mistaken, please let a mod know and we will take care of it. Sorry for the delay.
I think that's a fair argument. MMLB has two more buster only runs, one for each version, that aren't on this board for some reason. I don't know what number of runs is "enough," but I don't think one or two is the right answer. Just my two cents.
In my opinion, you don't need a category to do runs, but you need runs to have a category. Having a board with only one or two runs on it seems pointless to me.
Snes and super famicom function exactly the same. Most people run the J version of the game because the text is faster by something like 10 or 12 seconds depending on the category. You can run the J version on an snes by breaking out the two tabs in the cartridge slot that serve as a sort of region lock.
