I think there is some confusion here about what happened. There used to be a glitchless category, but really all that happened was that we decided to change those runs to be considered as NMG runs.

No, console speedruns are to be timed by real time and as long as there are no edits in the video (which wouldn't be acceptable anyway), then the real time can be determined by timestamps so you wouldn't need a timer showing.

Hi, OpenMW is not allowed for leaderboard submissions. If you want to submit a run, it has to be played on an unmodded copy of the game. It can be on console as well, but we will only allow for the real time to be used as the final time. As such, playing on the PC version and using Livesplit to time the run is the standard way to speedrun Morrowind.

yeah I'd say it was, I think I will be able to get it soon based on how it's been going!

No, I've added the Xbox consoles so you can submit runs. Of course, it has to be submitted with real time timing as there isn't any way to remove loads properly on console.

EDIT: Livesplit now pulls the updated load remover from github, which combines 1.0 and GoTY functionality in one file! This also means that you can use multiple versions in a single run.

Hey! There have been some changes to the way that the load removing timer works. Now, fade outs during exterior loads stop running the timer until you gain control of your character. This change was necessary because I found that the timer would run for longer if your computer's hardware was not as powerful. This is better because it makes the playing field even and drastically reduces "pay to win" that existed with the old timer.

Runs from before July 2019 have been marked as using the Old Timer on the leaderboards. So, any run after that should be a "New Timer" run.

And yes, at the time of writing, all categories have "time save", which will be greater if you have generally weaker hardware.

Here is how to get it:

  1. Open Edit Splits in Livesplit. Choose the game title properly (just "Morrowind" won't work)
  2. Activate the load remover/autosplitter. Press OK on the window.
  3. Right click the window of your splits, and under Compare Against, choose Game Time.

Hi MrBigTAnderson,

The old All Factions (glitched) route used to do the whole alchemy loop to fortify intelligence, then make speed and telekinesis potions. With the buffed intelligence, we would create then really a bunch of enchanted items: one to one shot most enemies, one to levitate, one unlock all locks, and one to frenzy NPCs to avoid a bounty for murder.

Now, it may not be reflected in the rules, but this topic of alchemy and legality for NMG came up at one point in the Elder Council Discord server (psst, you should join, link is in the Resources section) and many of us agreed that it is such a powerful exploit that it is "against the spirit" of NMG, so it should not be allowed in NMG runs. We did not conclude on how it could be explained in the rules.

To answer the question of how to mash, re-sizing anything does not help with the actual brewing of potions, but it could maybe help with the purchasing part of ingredients for the bartering window and possibly the dialogue window. Anyway, to brew quickly, I would select the ingredients, take my left hand off of the keyboard, position the cursor over "Create" or whatever it says, then hold the mouse steady with my left hand, and vibrate my RIGHT arm and use my right pointer finger to rapidly click. The Alchemy strats/setup has been changed to the Soultrap Glitch, so we no longer bother with Alchemy at all. It was a very tiring strat as you would need to create over 700 potions to get the proper skill ups and intelligence setup, which is a really really obnoxious amount.

OpenMW is not allowed for official speedrun.com runs - it must be the vanilla game - any version is OK, and expansions are OK to enable or disable. You can still always do runs on OpenMW and record/upload them, it just won't be accepted on here for a position on the leaderboard.

I have not tried an All Factions NMG run because I think it would be too tedious to do with the lower speed, no out of bounds, and other little tricks like "ceiling glitch" where you go in to a ceiling with levitate which puts you out of all NPC line of sight, so you can steal anything out in the open. As far as I know, no one has done an All Factions NMG run. By this, I mean a run that fully satisfies all of the requirements, and is also done in one sitting.

If you are really looking to be the first person to do this, then my advice would be to check out the All Main Quests run for inspiration on how to go fast, and then add your own style/routing for All Factions. You would need a lot more gold for training and stuff - probably in the 40-50k gold area. Additionally, the optimal quest order would probably be different, but I'd probably just start out with the glitched questing route for simplicity.

No problem! So for amq nmg, if you want to copy my route (which I'd recommend, a good route is key for this game) you have to disable tribunal and bloodmoon in Data Files. This will allow you to skip the Kogoruhn quest for the Urshilaku and access the cavern of the incarnate early. If you choose the exact dialogue that I pick and rest until 6 am or 6 pm you can enter the cavern of the incarnate early.

  1. Make your way to khuul and jump toward the burial cavern, get the bow from the ghost.
  2. Go to the camp, talk to Zabamund "nerevarine prophecies," choose last option to gain permission to talk to ashkhan
  3. Talk to the ashkan, "nerevarine prophecies, initiation rite (2x), nerevarine prophecies (continue)" and then exit, go to the wise woman's yurt.
  4. Talk to her "nerevarine prophecies (continue), pass the test." Now rest til it's 6 am or 6 pm. Keep in mind you will want adrenaline rush here because we have to travel very far. If it's 4 pm, you'll need to wait 26 hours to get adrenaline rush back and make it 6 pm. Use icarian flight and adrenaline rush and then your wizard staff or scroll of Windform (depending on the route you use, non-windform is better for learning the game but slower) to levitate to the cave. It takes some practice to get the most direct path as possible, so make use of multiple save files (in general).

Hey, so there are actually two routes that exist for any% on GOTY, theyre considered to be "glitchless" runs. They also actually run on -100 difficulty, while the rules specify 0 difficulty (this could change). However, I believe both routes actually turn OFF Tribunal and Bloodmoon. This is very easy to do- just click on "Data Files" in the Morrowind Launcher, and un-check Tribunal and Bloodmoon, leaving Morrowind as the only one checked. Reason for this is it removes the assassins (I don't even think it's a factor in the routes, but there is no point in enabling expansions).

One is by Yams, he made some videos going through it here: Part 1: Part 2:

The other one is by me, but it's not a consistent strategy as it does a similar trick with All Main Quests No Major Glitches where you keep attempting for the Balmora Temple scroll merchant to sell the Scroll of Windform.

Actual run:

If you have any questions, people on discord are almost always willing to help out, link to it can be found in Resources tab!

Hey guys, I've just started running Glitchless AMQ. I'm wondering about 2 things:

  1. I think the difficulty should be standardized to 0 or -100. As of now, the rules in that subcategory do not specify a standard.
  2. There is a point in Vivec Informants where you can prevent taking fall damage by colliding with the ledge. This seems like a glitch, but would Glitchless ban it? there are a lot of times when this can happen unintentionally, and i think to allow something for movement like this is acceptable, and even more interesting to watch, and saves time without anything absurd. Here is a visual ().

Thanks, and hope this gains traction. The run is quite hard in terms of optimization, and there is still a lot of potential for route changes.
