Pretty sure corpse platforms is referring to the partnership mod: https://gamebanana.com/maps/211027
As with all maps, we'll consider adding it if enough people show interest in running it: currently there hasn't been much interest in speedrunning the map to my knowledge and given it's age I'd be surprised if there was suddenly a surge in interest, but who knows.
A few particularly epic examples:
- someone submitted my PB with the game cut out and placed in a different overlay, and they paused the timer at random intervals such that the final time ended up being WR by about a minute
- someone straight up uploading someone else's PB onto their own YouTube account and submitting it, and a top 10 run at that
- someone submitted someone else's run with the link being their actual PB vid that they just hadn't gotten around to submitting yet, on their own account
- multiple cases of people submitting completely different games: a dark souls run submitted to Celeste, a minecraft lets play submitted as the vod for a simpsons hit and run speedrun
- and of course at least 3 rick-rolls
Having demo on your regular dash can cause you to miss dash crystals you don't want to miss, and more importantly means you can't do super-dashes, which help a bit throughout the run. As Cursed said it's technically allowed but I wouldn't recommend it.
The game itself has its own leaderboard https://www.speedrun.com/celestep8 (in which the Celeste version of it is allowed). If you mean a run involving unlocking it in this game and completing it, that has its own issues in that there isn't really a good way to time it and if you want to play PICO you should probably just play the game on its own.
Technically no timer at all is required for a valid submission, but the timer most people use (LiveSplit) comes with an autosplitter and load remover, the latter of which is required to verify time without loads. This can save anywhere from ~20 seconds to multiple minutes depending on your PC, and it's completely free so I'd recommend downloading it if possible, but you can still submit runs without it.
That Reddit post is still mostly accurate, with the main exception being if you want a full-game tutorial Programmatic's would probably be better to watch nowadays.
There are no tutorials to my knowledge, you can try to learn it from watching input displays (VGmaster/Bacon both have them in their PBs I believe), but in general it’s a rather difficult strat for not much timesave that I wouldn’t recommend learning until a mid 1:2x at the very least.
It's allowed yeah, you can't really do the same in Lisa though because there are no warps close to Krustylu Studios in Lisa.
Most runners likely will show their coins at the end of most levels, as you pause for cutscene skips in 2/5/6 and there are coins right at the end of 3/4. As a general guide though:
Homer 1: 300-375 Bart 1: 750-850 Lisa: 600-700 Marge: 650-800 Apu: 550-600+ Bart 2: 375-450+
There's a bit of variance because ultimately it depends on your coin route and there are always backup coins if you're on the lower end but aiming to at least beat the lower values there should be a rough guide. :)
I use the Kartridge version to play this game, I think it should still be fine after flash is killed?
The general run is largely the same, but the main differences are:
- no load remover (this changes a few strats to optimise RTA such as early Inmate Marge/American Apu and not restarting some missions or main menu warping)
- lower fps makes the game generally slower (but also makes cutscene skips very free and armored truck a bit faster)
- a few different OoB options (bridge clip, power plant clip, makes an oob in No Mission Warps free)
Leave "time" blank, just submit ingame time (ingame time being the time the game says at the end) :)
It's generally impossible to objectively call a time "good" or "bad". A sub 30 time could be "bad" for someone if they feel they can do a lot better - and in the opposite sense any time can be "good" if you're proud of it. Personally I'd just focus on having fun with the game without trying to label times like this, getting caught up on how good or bad your time is can lead to a negative mindset and take away from focusing on improving at the game. :)
If you leave IGT blank for every run submitted to that category and untick "Show empty time columns" you should be able to get that to work.
Hi, requesting for https://www.speedrun.com/shar_mods to be linked to https://www.speedrun.com/shar as a modification.
This is a pretty minor thing, but would it be possible to have milliseconds as a toggle per category? As an example, the game I moderate uses milliseconds for a miscellaneous category as it has an ingame timer that has decimals. However, the main game categories don't have that ingame timer, so we choose not to allow decimals (along with a few other reasons such as the categories generally being over an hour, no precise way to time decimals without going frame by frame). This leads to a large amount of new runners submitting runs with decimals (despite none of the runs on the boards having them and the rules explicitly stating not to submit with them). It'd be easier to deal with submissions if we could just straight up remove the option to add decimals on categories other than the miscellaneous category we allow them for. Obviously not a big deal, but it'd be a cool feature :)
