This glitch has been known for a long time but nobody knows how to do it sadly. But at least this confirms it's still possible on the most recent patch (assuming you're playing on that) so that's good information.
Really late on this, but just wanna confirm that it does still work. Something to note is that you need to jump far enough away from the wall before Sonic will start running on it again. You also can't use the trick everywhere. I believe for 3D you can only do it while running along a wall, not running vertically up it, but in 2D it should always be possible.
Wow, I see you've put a lot of time into this. It's nice to have some standard rules.
Looked through these a bit and I see no immediate issues. If anyone else does, please let me know. Until then I think we should use these timings, and if an issue comes up we can address it then.
As a side note, I know there's a bunch of runs awaiting verification but I am very busy with school atm. From saturday onward I'll have some more time so I'll look through all of them then. Apologies for the wait.
Wasn't actually me who added mission 2 :P truthfully I wasn't aware it was missing before
I'm also not sure if the mission screen varies, will try it out later
If you follow the game, you should get a notification in the top right of the page saying there's a new WR. You can also tweak these settings on http://www.speedrun.com/settings to include emails if you want
I agree with these timings and have verified your runs based on them. Load times and cutscenes should definetly be excluded wherever possible to give ever console a level playing field. Having exact frames to start/end is very nice because this game is kind of a mess with all the different starting/ending locations and conditions so it can be super confusing
Only thing I'm not sure about is why you included the mission opening time as a load time
Great job on the runs btw
While I'm not against this category, I propose this should be added as Misc as there's already 4 "main" categories and the game doesn't acknowledge that you beat a mission with the subsistence ruleset, unlike S-Rank, PSNK and All Tasks which show up either in the iDroid or the result screen.
And I agree chopper extraction should be allowed since it's allowed in the real Subsistence missions.
Wormhole generator does only work in FOBs.
If you're running it Deku then it's fine I guess. Personally I just hate seeing excessive categories with little to no activity. Makes the boards look bad, which is also the reason I'm against adding the Subsistence category. Though maybe it can be added as Misc?
Guess for now there's also the problem that there aren't optimized runs for each category, making it seem like there's more overlap than there really is? I'm gonna work on some any% runs to at least try and solve that.
I get that they're different, but I would hardly call it "significant". And there's a lot of categories for a game with this low activity so I wouldn't mind seeing something removed. Guess it's just me ¯_(ツ)_/¯
How do people feel about the S-Rank category? Personally I feel it is unnecessary, as it often overlaps with the other categories. It's essentially Any% No Rank Restricting Items, as time alone will almost always give you an S-Rank. Since PSNK also doesn't allow rank restricting items either, you'll pretty much always get an S-Rank there too (unless you're really slow)
I think it would be okay to have the category removed to clean up the boards and have less double submissions, what do the rest of you think?
On an unrelated note, there STILL have not been rules defined for most of the full-game categories, and the NG+ All Missions PSNK rules still claim to ban Cyborg Ninja/Raiden and the Parasite Suit (despite only the camo restricting your rank)
There's a bit of an issue with the IL boards for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Basically, there's 4 categories, Any%, S-Rank, All Tasks and Perfect Stealth, No Kills (PSNK).
In some levels these all have unique runs to them. However there's also a level where you physically cannot get the PSNK bonus, so the board will always remain empty. In other levels, there's nothing to kill or spot you, so you ALWAYS get the PSNK bonus, meaning that every run should be submitted to both any% AND PSNK. There's levels where there are no tasks other than the main objective, once again requiring runs to be on multiple boards. You get the idea.
Because of this, there's a lot of levels where there currently isn't an any% run, because runs only got submitted/accepted to the "more difficult" categories.
It would be very nice if the mods could specify per level which categories there are. Alternatively (but less pretty), you could have the option to submit to multiple categories at once rather than requiring you to submit to each individual board.
So I was just looking through ILs and came across this beauty right here http://www.speedrun.com/run/6yj1rrdy
Naturally, this run is not reproduceable on a recent version and as such something needs to change on the boards. Either a version variable or ANYTHING to specify that the run is not preproducable on the most recent version.
Once again, I ask if we can have another active mod assigned to the game so this stuff can be taken care of more quickly and more efficiently. It's very surprising this has not been fixed as of yet, considering how long Weapon Glitch has been patched already. Also most of the categories are still lacking rules, and the 1 category that does have rules defined is outdated since it bans CN/Raiden
I've never actually done co-op so I'm not too sure how things work. Does the level only end when both players get to the goal or is 1 enough? Also, can both players be in different areas or does the game make you wait until your partner gets to the same loading zone? Depending on those things, co-op could be faster in normal levels too.
Also, I would be down for some co-op runs. If you want, you can join this Discord server to help organize it and have easier communication https://discord.gg/0uZdUArRoLGQeY7N
While I do like the idea of co-op runs, I'm not sure enough would be different to justify doubling the amount of ILs as a lot of them are already empty as is.
If some runs are done I would be fine with adding it
We should probably use it as a variable rather than splitting categories. So all current runs will be labeled with "Old Patch" and every new run will get "1.12" (if I'm not mistaken). Then if a new patch arrives those will need to be changed. Thankfully that won't be a lot of work with the current amount of runs :p Reason for saying the patch number instead of "Current Patch" is so it's clear when it's outdated
Reminder to submit games! (also a reminder to myself to figure out what I wanna run, if anything)
It mostly definetly should be RTA. IGT can be exploited and forcing no-saves is stupid, when RTA works a lot better to begin with. If you die, you restart from checkpoint and it loses you time. That's how it should be
Question... why no checkpoint reload? Seems like it just creates an unnecessary barrier of entry
Technically they should be moved every time there's a patch. Though I'm pretty sure that means the Current Patch boards will be empty a lot of the time. Not sure what would be best. Anyone else wanna chip in?
The addition of the character used variable is good. Though the rules still need to be adjusted for PSNK ILs and NG+ PSNK Full-Game. Rules are also missing for most of the other Full-Game categories. Other than that I'm pretty happy with how this is turning out!
