Hey, Between may 29th and June 13th I will try to run the Mario Kart Octathlon. Preperations are being made at the moment and I still need some equipment (aka capture device) and my Exams are coming but that's not gonna stop me.

To not disappoint you when I'm running, I have one thing to clarify: It will be a Nitro track run and MK8DX will be played and MK8 will not. This is because I find it more interesting to play the original tracks over the remade ones and MK8DX is faster than MK8 And playing the same game isn't very useful to me.

Does any one have a good recommandation for a capture device which can be used for old, new and handheld (3DS mainly) consoles?

I'm in but when is the tournament? it is not stated in the desription or did i completly missed it?

The runs are really old and the playerbase for this game is very low, so there not many rules on recording

What happend was that I did a run, but the footage I only got a blanc screen. Why it happend is still unknown. But I really like that you are trying to do a run. I’m not sure that adding 3 min. To your counter is still a valid run but see that after you did the run. I wish you the best of luck

I have to apologize. After putting much efford in this, it didn't work out. I did a run, I tried to record the run but all I got after 6 hours 45 minutes and 45 seconds is just a blanc screen. I tested, I did a pre-run to look if all the games we're working and I took the day off. And still I have to disappoint you for not being able to give you today's run. I've splits. All I can say for now is that I'm truly sorry.

Sidenote: This was a Nitro tracks no skips speedrun, Skips in MKDD such as the waluigi skips and bowser skips were not done during this run

Oke Almost everything ready, the only thing left is a way to record. It has been proven dat my phone isn't made for such a long run. Nevertheless I expect to have the run by the end of next week (July 23rd). I hope that you're all ready!!!

Hey Hey, I'm preparing a setup to do a Mario Kart Octathlon, so there will be a run in about a month (after holiday started).

I do not own MK8D so I cannot experience the differences myself. However, I think that MK8 is a tiny little bit more rewarding since you had to work really hard for saving 2 minutes.

The handheld series is empty because someone did a run for it, but never submitted it for an unknown reason.

Oké, I just read in one of the sticky threads that someone has to peform the run and set the rules. So if we want this to take off, we should do a run. I can do a run, however, i'm not able to record this, since I do not own a capture card for my consoles nor for the 3DS. I would give the honour to someone else to do the first run.

Is that really a problem? I mean sure, firehopping isn't the most easy thing but to make a seperate categorie of it? can't you just like in Mario Kart: Super Circuit that you used MK8D or MK8 (Mario Kart: Super Circuit asks if ZZMT is used). I think this gives a more organized overview instead of making a sub-categorie.

Still I like this idea a lot, so I would like to help you if this is starting to take off.
