That really depends on the community (some got moved to the site without the video but was allready verified before by the community)
From how you formulated your question im guessing you wanna do runs on a console. Most communities dont accept runs without video verification. In case you got a webcam you can try a ghetto capture setup ( Kappa )

I can see on your profile (http://www.speedrun.com/user/Theretrogamerbay/info) which games you are a mod of. the rabbits one your the only mod of and the other one was with 3 guys.
If you talking about http://www.speedrun.com/tazescape then it might have happend in the movement of the game to the looney tunes series.
When you requested it the game landed in Other series probly and with cleaning up the other series the game got moved.

As far as i know the only thing that matters on using a different controller then the original is a turbo mode which some have isnt allowed to use. You can always ask your community of the game you run if they are ok with it.
