A while ago I reached out to Nitrome about the possibility of gaining access to the other rooms shown in the Steam preview video. These had new entities and other technology that I hoped to test out and maybe include another category for. Here is their response:

"Hi,

We did have various other rooms made that didn’t make it into the demo including many that we didn’t even show in the video but as they were not connected to the map we had built you could not play them. Obviously there was an intention at the time that we were going to build a full game and the demo was intended to give a taste that we hoped at the time would get us access to put the game on Steam (which was a harder thing to do back then).

We are not able to make those rooms available I’m afraid. Too much time has passed and it would require too much effort to dig it out and make it so that they would be accessible to a non-programmer.

Don’t give up hope that we might go back to Flightless at some point though…we have been known to go back to old ideas. Flightless didn’t fit the model of mobile games we settled on making at the time but that’s no longer the case."

Great run! I see a very bright Flightless speed-running future in you. Would you still like me to retime it or did you get it right?

Hello everyone!

As I am sure you all have noticed, Adobe Flash Player is no longer being supported by Adobe. This prevents you from playing Flightless on the Nitrome website. There is a workaround that allows you to continue to play Flash Player games. To do this, you must first download Flashpoint Infinity with this link: https://bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/downloads/

This link will send you to a website that has two download types (note that this only works for PC). Flashpoint Ultimate and Flashpoint Infinity. Download Flashpoint Infinity. This will download a folder named "Flashpoint 9.0 Infinity". Inside you can use the "Start Flashpoint" shortcut or you can open the launch folder and open the application that way. 

Once you have opened the application, open the search bar at the top and search Flightless Demo. I have already added Flightless into the system, so you should be able to play without any trouble. It doesn't really matter what version of Flashplayer you use to run the game, but if the game crashes, the issue almost definitely is the version of Flashplayer that you use. I use Adobe Flashplayer 11. Once you click play, all that you have to do is wait for it to load and you can play!

I am sorry to say that because adobe flash player is no longer going to be supported, you will be longer be able to play flightless anymore after January 6th. I will be going for a sub 2:50 duo run with Welmo, and I hope we can get it. If you want to get a run in, now is the time.

Just to clarify, for the main solo and duo speedruns, you must have all 50 gems and trigger the boss. For the any% category, you just have to trigger the monster.

I am very glad that some people are starting to want to play this game! The main part about running this game is practice. You will not get good in a few days. I would recommend that you play this game for a few days and get used to all the levels. Then, I would say to look at this youtube video. . This is a good run, and I would recommend learning from what they do. I will not recommend learning advanced strategies yet. Good luck!
