I added the category but excluded the requirement for 1110 lives. Feel free to submit.
From now on, Twitch VODs are no longer accepted as video proof due to their volatility. Any permanent video upload solution should work but Youtube is generally the preferred option. You are not forced to resubmit your old runs that used a Twitch VOD. If you do, mentioning it in the run description helps with verifying.
Hey friends,
Due to twitch's new restrictions on making highlights, we have decided to no longer accept twitch VODs in submissions. You are of course still free to link to a highlight you made in the description, but the video link in the submission must not be from twitch. This has already been added to the game rules.
This rule only applies going forward. There is no need to resubmit old runs.

Due to slight load time differences between consoles, full-game Any% runs under 26:05 will now be retimed manually without loads. Due to this change, other categories also have LRT enabled as the default option. To change this to RTA would require manually editing every single existing run which we will not do at this time. Please submit your runs in every category besides Any% as LRT, including individual level runs. All Any% runs are still submitted as RTA.
Side note: The category extensions boards are separate and not affected by this change.
Yes. When you first reach max lives, it gets recorded in your save file with a little star on the start menu. It doesn't disappear if you lose lives AFTER reaching the maximum so you don't necessarily have to finish the run with max lives, just as long as that goal has been reached at some point during the run.
The site listing is a little inconsistent but for what it's worth I added 2DS and 2DS XL as selections. Honestly didn't know they were options before, and (New) 3DS XL are not options, but oh well.
If you're not using the software itself to record the run, it should theoretically be fine. A better way to test if that is the case is to see a full run and compare it accordingly. Not making any final decisions for now, though.
Allowing any 3DS emulator for speedruns was always questionable since the performance has not been accurate to real 3DS hardware. For Citra specifically, the developers have officially ended support for it after settling with Nintendo. If there is another, more accurate emulator out there (or to be released in the future), we will always consider the option but currently I don't think that is the case.
i just verified 3 top level any% runs i think this game is plenty active thank you very much thread locked lol.
^What R0main and Pear said. Also, even if you can't submit to the leaderboards, no one is stopping you from running the game on your own.
Sounds fun. I'll add it once you do a run yourself.
It seems there's a version difference in coin rush DLC packs. I don't know the direct cause but the only difference seems to be the load screen at the beginning saying "Please wait...". Some have it, some don't. So far, only Tegron34 seems to be missing it.
This causes somewhat of a problem with our current timing method. That's why it's going to be changed a little bit. From now on, timing starts when the screen fades into gold for the first time after starting the run. So, after the "Please wait..." screen but before the course showcase screen.
Every run is going to be adjusted to this timing method.
I think if we were to add something like this, we would have to add every other level as well to stay consistent. But yeah I don't think we will, just because you're the only runner of this ONE level so far lmao. I'd say you can keep this to yourself and maybe try to get other people to time their runs if you want but a leaderboard might not be needed. No worries though, just have fun!
(More traction means more generous consideration)
Why 5-3? That seems oddly specific. Also, this takes like, what, less than 10 seconds to complete? I know this is category extensions but come on. I would understand if it was an individual level run, but even then I'm not very willing to add all levels onto this board with barely any runners. If you have anything to defend this "category" with, I'm willing to listen. But for now it seems pointlessly arbitrary.
