I believe it has to do with how the live streams are set up on the Streams page and that’s why they can’t allow one Twitch account for multiple SRC accounts.

I don’t remember the details and I could be very wrong but I know this came up before and an explanation was given then about why it can’t be done.

Unfortunately, I don’t believe that is possible at this time.

You probably want to ask that to Katsukity. Shoot them an inquiry and ask.

I don’t see the game Goddess Primal Chaos on the site, if you’re looking to request a game this is not the place.

You’ll want to go to https://speedrun.com/requestgame to request the game be added to the site.

If you go to the LBs for the game, in the side bar on the left hand side of the screen there is a link to "Forums" which will take you to the game specific forums. Other links in the sidebar include Resources, Guides and other helpful ones.

I would give you a direct link but I can't find the game you're referring to.

The route that Biz showed off at RPGLB was a newer route that had been theorized where you got Flare-G in Monstro (instead of Neverland) and Haste2-G after being spit out to Agrabah by Monstro.

This route was floating around for a while as it was supposed to be faster overall since you got these boost gummis earlier than normal. The time saved from having them was supposed to offset the time loss from getting them at those different spots.

I honestly don’t remember what became of that route since I don’t see people do it anymore. I’m not sure if it was re-timed to not save enough time to be worth it or if it turned out to be equal to the normal gummi route. I know that @Sonicshadowsilver2 and I did a lot of the timing when the route was being crafted initially, so maybe he remembers what happened to it.

Yeah I’d say you’re a part of a community when you actively participate in the game whether through doing runs, routing, helping new runners, glitch hunting etc.

And I agree with what FurryWulfz said too - an important part of being a part of a community is interacting with people and being friendly. Just running a game and never interacting with anyone just makes you a runner, not a community member.

@SpiderSponge No, he doesn’t need to calm down, you need to learn some respect and how to not be condescending and aggressive in 99% of what you post.

You don’t get to tell anyone how to set up their categories especially since Beat the Game is a fine name. There is no speedrunning rule that says Any%, 100%, etc. are the only category names you can have.

And yes, the rules are kinda silly but there are so many better ways to tell them that without starting off your post by attacking them and how they set it up.

EDIT: I just realized the game you’re talking about isn’t even the one he requested. Why did you even need to bring that game into this thread at all???

EDIT 2: Nice post deletion. Deleting messages when you’re called out is so slimy.

While I understand wanting to account for every platform for a game, isn't what you're trying to do a bit overkill?

You said it yourself, a lot of those platforms are extremely obscure, is it worth accounting for every single platform for a game at this point even if nobody has done a run on it? To me it might be better to wait until a run on those platforms exists, by you or someone else, then you can see if that version is actually that different from any other platforms. If that platform is slower than a bunch of others or if the game is very similar to another, then it's probably not worth including because I can't imagine people wanting to run on slower platforms since they'll probably be emulating them all to begin with. Even if the games have slight variations, that might not be enough to warrant inclusion of every system.

At the end of the day (assuming you're talking about a game you mod) you can split up categories however you like whether by platform, CPU type or some other way so I'd recommend doing whatever is easiest for you. Just make sure if you use something like CPU type to provide an explanation of the platforms that apply to that. I don't run the game so my 2 cents means nothing lol, but just figured I'd share my perspective.

A capture card allows you to capture the video and audio output coming out of a source - in our case a video game console. The capture goes to your computer as a video source. You can take the capture and put it in broadcasting software like OBS or XSplit where you can build a layout and then stream to Twitch, YouTube, Beam, etc. If you buy some extra hardware called a splitter you can split the input source (the console) to multiple outputs so you can play the game on your TV while simultaneously capturing it with the capture card.

How expensive one is depends on what kind of consoles you’re trying to capture.

The best standard def (composite and s-video) capture card is gv-usb2 which is relatively cheap at only $30-$40 USD. This is good for older consoles like the PS3 era and older. If you’re trying to capture HD consoles over HDMI then unfortunately you’re looking at $100-$150 where the cheaper you go the worse quality you’ll get with more delay in the capture video/audio.

If you’re using a PS4 or an Xbox One the you can use their Twitch app to stream directly to Twitch without the need to get a capture card.

Kirkq is the one that handles those and he’s been MIA for a couple weeks, he most likely got caught up in real life things. All I can say for now is keep waiting, I’m sure he’ll check everything soon and start moving through requests again.

Content Mods are a work in progress so he can have some assistance with things like this and hopefully they’ll be fully implemented sooner than later.

I’m really not sure of a good way to explain this since voice chats are pretty self explanatory.

In discord you have text channels and voice lobbies. Text channels are where you type messages, voice lobbies are where you can join to physically talk to people through your microphone. Those lobbies have a little mic icon next to them vs the # symbol for text channels.

Unless you’re a voice lobby (you click on it to join) then your mic is not sending audio that can be heard. Discord is perfectly free of risk provided you know how to use to use it. If you don’t want people to hear you through your mic, don’t join a voice lobby or mute your mic in discord by clicking on the icon like HDK showed you.

If you compare it to something like Skype, unless you’re in a call with someone, they won’t hear you through your mic but you can still type messages to them fine. Discord is the same way - unless you’re in a voice lobby or a private call with someone nobody will hear you through your mic.

FF9 has an Any% Segmented category. This site is not single segment only, the mods for any game can add a category for segmented runs at their discretion.

You can take the VOD of the run and play it back in OBS/XSplit. That way you can overlay a timer onto the screen.

However for longer runs this is extra obnoxious to do and it’s annoying in general to do for every run.

Is there a limit to how long of text you can hyperlink to using BBCode? If not then I think I found a bug.

Because I can do a few words just fine.

But if I try to do a second link with a lot more text in it so that it's almost like a sentence long then it won't properly link.

I was gonna link this Amazon product in a thread in Streaming but ran into these issues.

AntarcticaTimmiluvs7 years ago

Yup! The console will go into the splitter like you already knew, then one male/male will go from one of the outputs to the TV and the other male/male will go from another output to the capture card.

If you're planning to capture s-video and your splitter supports it, you'll also need an s-video cable to go along with the male/male cables (just look for ONLY s-video, no need for an s-video combo or anything). In this case you'd use just the audio channels from the male/male cable and use the s-video instead.

EDIT: for some reason I can't hyperlink to Amazon URLs so I can't provide you links to the cables if you needed them -_-

Why did you necro this thread for that...

There a thread in this very same forum for moderation requests when to have a pending run that hasn’t been approved in ~3 weeks and you are unable to contact the moderators of the game through posts on the game’s forum or their social media.

A powered splitter provides a 1-to-1 split of the audio and video coming out of the console. Without it, you may find that the audio or video become slightly delayed/out of sync or the quality is lesser than if you hadn’t plugged the console directly into the TV or capture card.

I think I got my powered splitter for $30 so they aren’t terribly expensive and are worth the extra money over buying 3 standard Y splitters (one for each audio channel and the video channel).
