There is also no rule or anything set in stone that says kirkq checks this thread once a week. He says he TRIES to check it once a week but sometimes he gets caught up and is a few days late. He’s not skipping anything, he’s just extra busy this week and will be delayed in checking here.

I'm officially requesting that we re-organize all of our LB mods on here. Over the past 8 months I've noticed a growing amount of issues with the LB moderation and I feel like we are in need of a change. Ive taken the time to write out why I feel this way and I've put it on Pastebin https://pastebin.com/cFrsPbQY

I've chosen Pastebin because it's easier than posting it here in the forums where a massive wall of text is hard to read and process.

Please read the entire Pastebin as it's all very important stuff regarding our LBs. I look forward to discussion on this topic and how we can best re-organize the LB mods (I provided 2 options I think are the best in the Pastebin).

Thanks.

EDIT: if this wasn’t clear let me say it explicitly - I don’t have any ill will against the current mods nor do I hate any of them. I love the current mods and all they have done, but there’s is a pattern showing that change is needed. I’m not doing this out of spite or some plot to take over, I’m doing it because I think a change would be good. I don’t want to burn any bridges over this, I just want to make the LBs a better and smoother place as this community continues to grow.

If they are the only mod, verifying their own run is fine unless they are doing something sketchy.

If there is more than one mod, nobody should verify their own run because a second set of eyes is always good.

My 2 cents.

I think Crash Team Racing is faster on PAL PS1. And I think that it’s usually played on a PS2 because a PS1 loads slow. Twilight Princess is also faster on German for what it’s worth.

I can’t think of others off the top of my head though, it doesn’t happen often.

What the moderator means is that you should trim off the parts of the video that aren’t part of the run. This means any practicing, resets, etc.

Most people only have videos that showcase the entire run and nothing extra except maybe the credits. This type of video trimming can be done in any video editor.

That being said, rejecting a run for not being trimmed like this is silly, especially when it’s only a 90 minute video.

You’d have to ask site staff, but I don’t know if they are actively looking for any more translators right now. There haven’t been any updates recently on the translation (other than it being available for donators right now) so idk what kinda help they might need.

You have to trust that when the runner submitted their run they properly checked the “emulator” box. Sometimes emulator has other things that prove it’s an emulator (visual glitches) or some games require things like showing the emulator FPS during the run.

If an emulator is banned, it’s probably for good reason and it would be obvious if the game is performing different than real hardware (for example faster loads)

What consoles are you trying to capture? For consoles that output composite/s-video the best option is a gv-usb2 which will run you $40 USD.

For capturing HDMI you have a lot of options and brands, but you won’t find a decent one under around $150 USD.

All of the mods for pretty much every Zelda game are incredibly active on social media, this site and the ZSR/individual game discords so contacting them should never be an issue.

Also, for more info on why CEMU is banned - it’s pretty inaccurate from a real WiiU

Or post in the game’s forums. Mods tend to (and always should) follow the forums of the games they moderator so they’ll receive notifications for new posts.

You need an input display which splits the signal from your controller to send it to both the console and to a USB output you can connect to your computer. The inputs can be captured then with a program called NintendoSpy.

Making an input display requires a bit of electrical knowledge to split the wires and solder everything down. You’re best off finding someone to commission a build out to and have them make it for you. Or if you’re savvy enough you can do it yourself (I don’t have a how to guide handy though)

I dont actually use Livesplit, Ive used WSplit for years and still do (I never needed Livesplit's fancy bells and whistles).

That being said, i should probably update just to look around so I can answer questions like this with more up to date information lol. Apparently Im farther out of date than I thought.

Yes, you just set the background of Livesplit to a solid color and then in OBS/XSplit you chroma key out that color on the Livesplit capture. That will make the background transparent.

There might be an easier way to do it (maybe Livesplit does it natively now?) but that’s I’ve always done it.

Whether or not it should be allowed is entirely dependent on the glitch.

Can the glitch be re-created by other runners? Does the glitch save an insane amount of time over not using it?

Questions like these matter because if the glitch can’t be replicated, you shouldn’t allow it because clearly it’s not understood or it might have been a bug in the software for that run time.

If the glitch can be reproduced and it saves a lot of time or changes the nature of the category, then allow it and split the categories if the other runners agree. If the glitch doesn’t save a lot of time then just allow it in the existing category.

Obviously Im not a full mod or admin so this is just my 2 cents, but I would advise against adding games/LBs for games if there are no runs for them. If a board doesn't get set up (meaning categories, rules, a run) after 2 weeks then they are liable to be deleted. I'd say just hold off on adding them until you or someone else does a run. Maybe put a post in the series forum outlining the games you haven't added yet so anyone who does a run knows they can just ask you to add it and bypass the normal queue for game requests.

XSplit works the same with a window capture FYI. Just select Livesplit and it’ll auto size the capture to Livesplit and track it regardless of where you move it to.

The Wii U VC tends to have awful input lag (for some games it’s the worst input delay out there) so if you start with that version, switching off of it might be painful because your timing will be all off.

I’d recommend using the NES if you have it, it’ll be a better experience if you start to get better times.
